it shouldn't be too hard for you to do with a car that was designed to fit the motor to begin with. my thoughts exactly, it is already designed to fit. or else hyundai would be tards and there cars would be more expensive like i said though do not want a turbo kit, but really don't want to build either engine up at the moment. i also just think in my situation its going to cost the same no matter what because i need so many other things for my car at the moment which if i do the v6 swap will all come from the tib. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I would think you could get a decent beta motor for a few hundred then just get the forged parts and stuff them in there. The only mess that i came across was getting the cams that i needed. If you check the importperformanceparts site it has kits that you can get for I4 rebuilds. Plus this motor should crank out about 200 hp naturally asperated.

DL...the front end is tighter than the tib so i dont think so. but again nobody has physcially done this yet.
and the mounts should be the same (if you use the subframe from the tib) not sure if you use the XD subframe, but my first reply thinks that it should bolt up. -------------------- |

Well nobody that we know of in the usa, but it has been done in Korea.
It isn't a really popular conversion considering a boosted I4 can crank out the Hp. But i will look around and see if i can find someone that has done it over here. http://www.korea-racers.de/elantra/v6swap/index_en.html Check this site out, i just found it and i am currently reading it myself -------------------- Watch what people are cynical about, and one can often discover what they lack.

there is one guy in germany (catfish over on EXD) that is also doing it but he has a hault on it because of funds. in all honesty you could probably do this in like a week if you were to work on it every day . if not a little quicker the hardest part again would be doing the delta wiring harhness.

sweet! i would invest in some Tein super street coils, they fit, are awsome, and are made to hold the weight of the v6

Swapping in a V6 will cost a lot more than a stock four with an automatic. The change to 5 speed manual will add another few thousand to the project. You can probably get away with a stock I4 and automatic for under a $1000 and no custom work. Going with your other choice you will be at least a couple grand and a ton off trouble shooting to get it running. At that point it will be better getting a car that you want and fixing that up. I vote for a stock replacement and be on the road in a week, verses months for the other option.

Yeah i am kinda leaning with silet on this one, if you need, need the car like now i would just go with a one for one swap. Being the easy choice for you to get moving again. I gave my car away about 2 months ago for a custom build and you know what, i ain't holding my breath waiting for it to come back anytime soon. The V6 would be a doozy unless you have a monster garage team ready to do a 24 hour swap. I would help you if you were in the Ventura county or 100 radius.
But again it is your car so have fun with it. -------------------- Watch what people are cynical about, and one can often discover what they lack.

thanks for the input everyone. ya i figured with the manual there will be modification needed, but i am going manual if i go 4 also so there will be change needed no matter what. i really think it will come down to what kind of tib i can find in what amount of time, currently the ones i have looked at i wasn't big on. im also still looking through wiring schematics of both vehicles, so i would hopefully have an upper hand on the wiring when the time came.

you would leave the wiring harhness for the XD alone!
the only thing would be hacking up/out the unecessary wires from the tib harhness...this would be the samething i used to do on the vanagons when i worked for a company that did motor swaps. only the delta ecu would control the motor...the XD would control everything else. so it would be... crank, cam, knock sensor and that kind of stuff -------------------- |
