My baby, 2012 BLACK GLS, got dinged by a door at a parking lot. Probably a white car, since it has a tiny white dot on it.

What options do I have?

This is my first brand new car so I'm nervous about attempting anything myself.

Small ding is probably a square millimeter but the dent shows in certain lights.

I'm so depressed!

Please help!!

Profesionally, how much would a dealer cost? Any ballpark figures??

Any help is appreciated!

First, welcome to the Club!

Second, depending on how big the ding is, it might just buff out. There are lots of products in our Reviews section (in the menu bar at the top of the page) that should be able to take care of that. Otherwise, there are lots of guys on here that do lots of things like detailing that should be able to help you with some ideas for fixing it. I hope you can get it taken care of and stick around a while! This site has lots of great features and information!

Can you take a picture and show us? We can give you a better idea that way...

Sorry it happened.... sad.gif

Look at it this way, it was bound to happen eventually... now you'll be less paranoid about it happening tongue.gif

Definitely get us a picture. There are sent pull kits you can use to pull out dings. I've used them on my car and a friends car and they work well. It's not perfect but pretty close and with a good polish, glaze and wax you probably won't see it

I've never tried the dry ice method discussed in this topic, but I thought about it with my old car.

Did the car get dented, or is it just white paint? If it's just a white paint scuff, some cleaner polish and an oribtal buffer may take it out. I sell Mother's products, so if you need ideas for getting it out, let me know wink.gif

If there's a small ding that can be seen in certain light, you can get one of those "ding guys" to come to your house and get it out for around $50. I had them do work on my Elantra GT and they did great. As far as the white on the paint, a clay bar and some polish should do... unless the white dot you're seeing is actually primer. In that case you'll need touch-up paint. By all means, post some pictures.

I am in the same boat. No less than 3 hours after I purchased my 2013 Black GLS, someone dinged my left rear door. It is also a small dent with white paint that wiped right off. Stood out like a sore thumb. I'll look at having it fixed soon. Like therockf150 said, at least you got the first ding out of the way.

Parking lot dings and old people (I'm 64) who open their doors by ear, the on going enemies of the proud and active car owner who wants to take care of his or her car. I remember my FIRST new car, it was a 1972 Pinto Sprint Special Edition with a "Hot Pants" kit on it (forerunner of the current body kits). I was new on the police force and had been taken off of probationary status so I thought secure enough to purchase a new car, complete with payments. Well, like most working street cops, I had a part time job as providing security for a 7-11 that was in a less than great area. To make a long story short, one night I was working (in full uniform) and my beloved little pony was parked on the curb of the store, I noticed a woman of silver hair and generous proportions get out of her early 60s model Buick and open the door into my little car hard enough that I swear that my car rocked. Forgetting that I was in uniform I stormed out of the front door and yelled, "Lady, do you have to open that G#+ D@%* Door by ear"? The woman got back into her car being careful not to hit my car and left without coming into the store.
After I calmed down and could think without run away emotion I thought, what have I done talking to a person like that WHILE IN FULL UNIFORM? I imagined all sorts of outcomes to my actions and none of them were positive, however, she obviously did not go to HQ to report the "Crazy Cop".

Today, 40 years later my prespective of what is important has changed a mite.

Ha! (And ouch.) Well, at least you didn't call her any names. I might not handle it so diplomatically. One can only hope she had a good scare and took it to heart.
