NOTE I AM FROM CANADA, THE HYUNDAI IS TOO. SORRY I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS
Hi, I have a hyundai elantra 2007 sedan, that has a radio with no steering wheel radio controls, and no cd player, as well there is no aux input in the car. I am wanting to install an aftermarket stero that has an aux input. The most I know how to do is open and remove the fascia to access the original radio and I have not done anything past that. Although the link below is of a different year car, the radio/clock look the exact same as the one in my car for reference: http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php...ticle&id=65 picture 3 So once I get the stock radio/stereo removed, is it as easy as just unplugging whatever was in the stock and plugging it into the aftermarket stereo that has aux? Will this allow the aux to work? I want to use the aux to connect my mp3 player to the stereo system. Thank you very much for anyone that replies. I would appreciate it if you were very descriptive because this is my first car ever and I am a complete newb when it comes to this kind of stuff. I have done some hardware hacking with phones but thats about all the experience I have. I'm assuming you are from the states, which does have a slightly different stereo setup as the Canadian model.
You will likely need to get an adapter harness and wire that to the new stereo harness before installing the new stereo. This harness will allow you to just plug things in and not have to worry about wiring inside the car. (something like this. You may also need a mounting kit to have the single DIN deck fit in the factory hole properly. -------------------- carPC Build Thread | My Elantra Site | My Fiero Site | My WebSite | Donate here to keep ElantraClub online and growing. |

It depends on the connectors. I have an 08. Look at the pictures in your last link. If your connectors look like those, then you have the canadian model.
Look at my install log. http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php...amp;hl=headunit If your connector looks like that, you have the american model. If you have the american, I'd highly recommend you order through sonicelectronix for your headunit. They will give you everything you need -------------------- 2008 Hyundai Elantra SE / Carbon Grey / Incus Body Kit / Sold at 98,400 miles 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Premium / Black / Current DD at 43,000 miles |

how would I go about installing the wire that you linked?I am very new to this so any terminology ma be provided in vain. Thank you so much for replying. It's been a little while since I've last installed a new headunit, but the last one I did (if my memory serves me correctly),you used the vehicle specific wiring harness adaptor (i.e. the link you are asking about) to plug into the car's original harness. You then splice together the wires on the back of that to the correct wire that leads into the harness that comes with the new radio you are installing. Typically the harness has each wire labeled with a little sticker (i.e. power wire, front left speaker +, front left speaker -, etc). You match that up and splice it to the proper wire for your new head unit. After splicing together you can wrap each wire with electrical tape to prevent any ends from touching and also to keep the wires together. It isn't as hard as it sounds. The only tool you might need is a wire stripper to strip off the plastic covering over the wires, but typically the ends are already out so you might not even need that. If you order from a site like Crutchfield they will normally include the correct wiring harness as well as all the instructions you will need. They are also part of our affiliate program so be sure to go to their site through here and the club gets a small portion of any sales so its a win win for everyone. -------------------- Please consider helping keep the club online and independent.
