I have been considering a full rebuild, but am not sure where to get decent parts. I am looking to do some mild upgrading to just get a little more fun out of the old and tired engine(staying NA, no turbo). Anybody have any ideas/suggestions?

According to his Garage, its an 02 w/ MT
Your best bets for good parts will be from Sharkracing, Kspec, or KDMstuff (aka Seoulfulracing). Cross-reference 03-04 Tiburons since they were equipped with the same MAF based 2.0 BETA II engines along with 01-03 Elantras. -------------------- |

The only cars that shared the same engine is the Tiburon and the 04-09 Spectra. There's no "hot parts" from the factory on any of them.
Cams and tune are how you're going to get more power from a Beta. bottom end is already a 10:1 compression decent quench engine. Until you can get a decent cam and an ECU tune that can handle it, you'll never get much more than 10-15hp with bolt ons. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Well, I am okay with only getting a minimal gain minus a tune, as that may or may not be in the budget. Mainly, I just need to rebuild the engine because of age and abuse. Previous owner may have let it get low on oil a couple times (found old receipts in the car), it has a few bad gaskets, and it has some lifter noise. I have also been bashing it for the past 2 yrs. and 28K miles. Its also nearly at 150k miles anyway. Just didn't know if anyone had a good experience with one place to get stuff, or a certain brand, or found the cheapest and quality stuff at _______ store.

if u plan on doing a total overhaul, while the crank is getting blue printed and balanced take bearings to get ptfe treated and oil ports enlarged by 0.01mm
the idea of feeler guages and milling gives me a headache.. ... dont forget to replace freeze plugs... might not need at all... but hell while everything is out, better now... get a valve job... 3 angle maybe.... head honed and gasket matched, ummmm after cleaning and polishing pistons and rods u could weight balance with the new rings... cant think of anything else right now -------------------- Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.
The packaging clearly stated '100'. I'm short ONE luft balloon. |
