Newbie here. Great write-up
Few questions hope you guys can help. USBHY1 for Hyundai/Kia - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_73689_PAC-USB-HY1.html How does this plug into the dash? Directly to the back of the AUX/USB sockets at the bottom? Has anyone used this Axxess ASWC-1 to interface with their aftermarket HU to their steering wheel controls? Not sure if this is compatible with all HU models including no name ones? All help is appreciated. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Has anyone used this Axxess ASWC-1 to interface with their aftermarket HU to their steering wheel controls? Not sure if this is compatible with all HU models including no name ones? I used that exact model to integrate an aftermarket head unit with my 2009 HD steering wheel controls. Took some learning on how to make it work but when I finally read the instructions... it worked and it worked well. It's the model to get if you're integrating a new hu into the controls. -------------------- |

I'm a fellow newbie to this forum as well Yes, when I removed my stock stereo, I had to also remove the HVAC Control panel (only 3 or 4 connections). Under that unit, you'll find the connection to the Aux and USB. The USBHY1 for Hyundai/Kia connects directly to the stock Aux and USB on the dash. Since the USBHY1 has RCA, you may need a RCA to 1/8" cable adapter if your after market stereo only has an 1/8" plug. I too am looking to pick up the ASWC-1, but the prices I was being quoted here in Canada were around $100. Too much for a few buttons of convenience. But I may try to find one when I'm back in the states, for less. Thanks for the link! I see they ship to Canada and the price is very reasonable. Much appreciated! David Hi David, Did you retain the illumination for the AUX/USB controls? Looking at Alex2013GT diagram http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/uploads/m...-1352042132.gif which wire would i need to pull out and slot into the USBHY1 socket? Or possibly compare the stock AUX/USB socket to the USBHY1? It would be ashame if I was not able to retain the illumination. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Thanks for this well-written install guide.
I would like to know about the steering wheel controls. There are modules to adapt to the volume +/- but the 2013 Elantra GT has; Preset Channel, Mode & Mute. Did you get these controls working as well? What about the phone integration? Do those controls still work? Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards -------------------- A proud member of the club.
