02 Dec 2013 Drove 450 klm's round trip which is about 280 miles.
All driving was 110-120klm's / hr or 68 - 74 mph 1st half with 'ECO' on was 5.9 l/100 or 47.5 mpg IMP or 39.5 mpg US reset 2nd half with 'ECO off' was 5.9 l/100 or 47.5 mpg IMP or 39.5 mpg US Exactly the same. I'm happy with that prices here were 1.20 L -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Having now owned my California Elantra Limited with Tech Package for about 8 months and having put just over 7k miles on it.
City driving (most of the time) I'm right about 19 MPG. Some times I'm at around 18 if I'm really heavy footed, other weeks I can hold 21. Highway I can pretty easily do between 22-26 MPG if I'm heavy footed and there is at least some traffic. If I keep it to 75 MPH or lower and traffic is open, I can get 29-30 MPG easily. I have NO idea how to actually get the rated max of 38 MPG. Maybe if I'm the only one in the car, I'm traveling down a straight stretch of gradual decline, I have the wind at my back, I drive with no radio/AC/fan/etc. turned on and I max at 55 MPH, then sure maybe I could get close to that. But in any kind of realistic driving, 30 seems to be where I top out with respect to max MPG. Its because you drive a ton of city, stop and go driving.

Went on a big road trip. Total KM round trip was 3500.
Fuel Consumption was between 6.5L/100Km on the high end and as low was 5.8L/100Km. The car really gets great efficiency at higher speeds when cruising. City numbers haven't been as spectacular though, sitting around 8.5L/100KM on the low end and as high as 10L/100KM depending on how much idling the car does. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Filled up the other day for the 1st time and got 27 MPG and this is mostly "in town" and rural driving. Not many highways. This is pretty much in line with my '02 GT. I used to get around 28-29 just about every time no matter how hard I drove it.

Comment about the gasoline gauge. I was used to older vehicles with a float that send a message to the gauge on the dashboard. The gauge might even vary as you went uphill of downhill. The gauge on my Elantra 2005 GT does not do this, must be some electronic gizmo giving the readout. I find that I drive a distance and look at the gas gauge. Stop, park, get in and begin another trip and the gauge has dropped since the last visual at shutoff. Strange. I suspected a leak or something, (no smells) but I think it's just how the gauge functions. Also, the way the gauge drops from full to empty during usage is very not uniform. So I vary between 26-29 mpg.
