Thanks alot. The other part of my question is how long should we be letting these motors warm up? Ive always warmed up my vehicles and was told its a "no-no" with GDI.

Warming up in any fuel injected vehicle is not needed.
GDI engines can have issues with carbon buildup with excessive idling. -------------------- "Those who yell the loudest about how unfair the world treated them are usually the reason for the treatment in the first place". A nurse on a forum I am on |

GDI engines can have issues with carbon buildup with excessive idling. GDI engines have problems with carbon build up due to EGR gases pumped directly to intake without the washing action of the intake of fuel. Look up air/oil separators. I placed one between the EGR valve and the intake. I was amazed by the amount of oil trapped after only 2K miles. Oil that otherwise would have been pumped into the intake. Over time, I've read as early as 40K miles, there can be a noticeable loss of power due to the build up on the valves. There is a process to clean up that crud, I've read $400, but it is not covered by your warranty. Hopefully this ounce of prevention will pay off. -------------------- A proud member of the club.
