Our host moved the club site to a different server. This one seems to be not affected by the problems on the other server. Let's see what happens. Hopefully, the problems of the past few days will be over!

Although the host/server has had it's problems over the past couple of days, overall things have been darn good. It's really nice to see new members come in and post and be active citizens of the club, that's really fun.

I'll be adding some more posts from the archives (mostly product reviews) to the mix here but for the most part won't be adding a ton of archived stuff.

Hopefully everybody's had a chance to look at the help pages a bit, check out the chat room and get a good feel for this place. Over time I think everyone will be very comfortable here!

I had gone to a separate forum here versus the old way where folks just mailed me and I posted what seemed the best. For our club, though,I think the old way is better. We have a different group here than some of the other enthusiast forums. Maybe a bit gung less gung ho to show off. And hey, that's an ok thing!

So I eliminated the Car of the Month forum here. If you are interested in March COTM and being showcased at the main site, please email your photos and mod list to me. Only members who have not previously been a Car of the Month should submit their pics.

I guess this is mostly for the benefit of dial up users but it's important we don't bog pages down loading huge signatures. I think all of us should use avatars... it just looks cool to have a pic next to your name. You can up load one here (less than 15K) or use one that's hosted elsewhere. Try to use avatars that are under 10-15K...

As far as sigs go, this is where pages can tend to bog. Imagine a page of 12 posts each with large photo signatures...then some posts have photos in the content... well one page could be .5-1 meg or more of pics! That is probably not a problem for cable or dsl but for dial up it's an eternity.

So to be fair to dial up users and to be fair to those on speedy connection, I'm recommending we keep all signature pics to under 25K if possible. I have been using a text signature and like it very much.

I'm not trying to put a "cramp" in anyone's style here, only trying to maximize the surfing experience here.

So to wrap it up. I'm suggesting everyone use an avatar in the 10K range or so. Please limit your sig pics to 25K or so or use a text sig. Again these are only guidelines. Use your judgement.

The club is about fun... and the car!

We had an interesting 2004 to say the least. From a grand beginning, a club meet and high activity to a slowing down toward late 2004. The candidates in the poll were the club's Members of the Month for 2004. I've excluded June's Billy&Wendy from consideration as they have sold their GT and are no longer active in the club. They were great members and are missed.

I contacted my server after noticing some high server loads this morning. They are aware of a problem and are working to correct it. You may experience some slow page loads. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok Ok Ok now .... let's see who won. Of course I as club leader am a super whore and have to be excluded! And silet at number 2 being a mod is also exempt from whore status. So just who was Post Whore of the Week (well 4 days really)? It was a very close race but the award goes to Elantrick with 30 posts....does his "see below" post even count?

Honorable mention (hmm is being a post whore honorable?? ) goes to Roydjt and bikerPA at 29, with tmant only mustering 26 posts and qualifying as a post whore wannabe.

I kinda changed a few sub-forums around a bit. Probably made southpaw happy tho. Nothing major really, I'm still fine tuning the board.

To those of you new to this forum, don't think that we're a new club. We are not. There are two years of valuable read-only information to see if you click on the "Archive" link in the forum header. Even if you never joined the old EZBoard board, you can now access all the information there. I've also linked archived forums to the individual related new forum here.

In the next few weeks I'll be transferring a large number of archived posts into this new forum... this should make it very convenient especially for club newbies. It will be a large project, but hopefully, it will be done by the end of February.

To our long time members: Let's start building this new place up. Invite folks to check us out, too... ok?

Although our server host is very good and reliable, we are still on a shared (not dedicated) server. That means other sites share the same server that we use. A dedicated server could easily cost $3,000 and more a year.

There are a few things you can do to keep things moving fast. For one thing do not overdo your sigs. I mean I want folks to have cool sigs but don't go overboard on the size both in KB or dimensions. Also, although your inboxes can hold up to 50 messages, please clear them out regularly. A bit of inbox maintenance can go a long way.

Look for other tips to come.

Most of you know there was a bit of a slowdown in activity over the last few months at the old forum. Well, we are in a brand spanking new, state of the art "facility" now. Let's start posting and interacting the way it was meant to be. Time for us to get back on track!

This is excellent forum software. To me it's the equal of VB 3. It's a tremendous package. It's like going from a Chevy (EzBoard) to a finely tuned Ferrari! There is so much to learn about the board. I recommend you read the help pages carefully. Look over your controls and set up your full profile. I'd like everyone to list their birthday in their profile so the board can auto-wish them a happy birthday on their day. Speaking of the calendar feel free to post any important dates you can. It's wonderfully integrated into our board.

I think we're going to like this place!
