They are redoing our parking lot at work. Leaving today, they had grated a large hole by the exit, so I went to the right of the hole and ended up grinding my right rocker panel into a large concrete curb. I now have this 2 inch of fiberglass showing from the passenger side door down to a small scratch on the rear rim. I guess that means it is no longer a Virgin. I plan to wash and wax it this weekend and look into getting some paint. It doesn't look too bad because it is down on the lower rocker area but it does make me feel stupid.

Post a pic. May have to take it to a shop to fix the fiberglass.

Ohh no! Here I was upset at myself for clipping a curb and scraping up my rear wheel, but I guess I should feel lucky it wasn't worse. Sorry to hear about that. sad.gif

Yeah, I know the feeling. I just nipped a curb this weekend with my car. First mark I've put on a pretty clean 12-year-old car. I was definitely kicking myself, and thinking that the Elantra would have made the turn!

Here are some photos from this morning (early). The white you see is no paint with the white fiberglass.

Hey-I doubt that is made of fiberglass. It's metal.

Wholly ouch man!

That's not going to be a cheap or quick fix.

Bondo would fall right out of that if attempted.

I don't believe there's any way to get behind it to tap it out and you most definitely cannot take that off and put it back on after fixing. I believe I'd call the need for a new rocker and paint job on that rocker.

It seems to be fiberglass, but I think the exposed white fiber makes it look worse or deeper than it really is. I took auto body in high school so I think I will attempt the fix. (although that was ages ago) I just ordered $70 worth of cleaners/primer/paint/clear coat and such. I think if I feather it out and sand/prime/paint/clear coat it will look fine. Time will tell, I guess. I will have to see once I try getting it sanded. I will get some better daytime shots and in process shots. I will put up a photo of the finished product so you guys can vote. I have a $1K deductible so this one is all me. Good thing I have some time off coming up, because I think I will need it.

Hey-It has a textured paint there that probably resists rock chips, etc. Luckily it is low and not readily visible.

yeah - the lower rocker... mine looked like that after i was forced onto a curb. thick white something, the little fibers is the rubberizer. light sanding, tape off the area and spray with a factory aerosol color.
