I am invading!
I posted this in my for sale thread but it's easy to get lost there. Just wanted to get the word out to anyone interested in parts that I'm selling. I start my new job on tug boats next week. I have to drive to headquarters on Monday in Baltimore stay at a hotel Monday night then tuesday do paperwork and in he afternoon drive to Philly, stay at a hotel and Wednesday I get on a tug boat and I'm gone for 2 weeks. Feb 8th I get off in Philly and drive back to long island
I just didn't know if anyone is interested in parts that are kind of big to ship. Or anything for that matter I could fit in my truck. I still have an exhaust, racing seats, wheels, turbo parts and a bunch of other stuff. Let me know

So ive been on the forum for a while and i was wondering if we should have a car meet. just wanting to bring it up because we have people from the east coast and the tri state area. If you guys would like to have one i know there are alot of places around jersey and north jersey is kinda in the middle. so what do you guys think?
This Poll can change and i can add more locations these are all in new jersey the Rockaway and Kinnelon are more towards north jersey and bridgewater is towards central so the people from pa can get to that mall fairly easily. Idk when the date would be just want to see if we could have one it would be alot of fun.
Reason why i picked mall: Open area, food is very close, hell if you wanna go shopping have at it.

The time has come. Since meets are happening else where why not have a meet over here on the East side of the USA!
Last year we had the Binghamton, NY meet. It was alright. Could of been better I guess. Anyway suggestions any one interested?
Pic from last years meet:
Binghamton was a good location for me, but I'm not sure how it works for other people. Lets get something going!!
Sometime in April looks ok for me.
------------------------------------------
I'm going to have a few meets this year so if you can't make this one maybe the next. Also, other people can plan meets too!
First Meet June 4th 2011 @ 12PM:
310 Mountain Ave, Hackettstown, NJ - White Castle
Going to check the area for things to do, aside from eating. Example, last years meet we went wine tasting.
I'm still not sure what else to do after we eat the awesome WC Food.
List of people coming:
Jamhandman (me)
fsv87
taktrevor (maybe)
Last year a few people came that didn't respond, so here's to hoping

Hey guys, I thought that maybe I can get good advice from someone in the area:
I'm planning a week-long family vacation mid August and thought that it would be great to spend it at the beach. So we're looking for a place to go with quiet, clean beaches, warm ocean water and accomodation for 4 (girls are 12 and 9). Given the time that we have and the fatigue of long trips, I'm not willing to go much further south than New Jersey (from Ottawa, ON). The area north of Atlantic City appears to be a good beaching spot, but I've never been there and would like some tips on the area (best spots, places to avoid). August being in the high tourists season, I'd like to book some hotel soon, and there seems to be a good selection around Atlantic City. However, we're not interested at all in the night life or casinos, and would prefer a quiet place with easy beach access and a good selection of places to eat.
I'm also open to other areas that you might know about along the coast.
Comments / suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

Okay, so with 2 planned trips to the states, I think I'll just turn it into a week of vacation and take in some US scenery.
I've still got to book it off with work, but it shouldn't be a problem as it's in the time that we're supposed to take off. Working with schools mostly leaves the summers as our vacation time.
So at the end of July I'm planning a tour of a bunch of eastern states. See if you're included in one of the possible stops (I used the
club map)
South Lyons, MI
Brownsburg, IN
Covington, KY
Du Bois, PA
Ashburn, VA
Drexel Hill, PA
Poughkeepsie, NY
Not sure if I'd travel the island or not.
Binghamton, NY for the meet on the 31st! (see
here)
Google trip MapI'm going to send a pm to the members I've got in mind to see if I'd be able to park in their driveway for a night or something - at least meet up for dinner. I'm kinda imposing myself on others, it's cheaper - but will be okay with finding a motel for the night if it's a prob.
Not gonna lie, a little excited for this. Even if it's just a drive, should be fun to get out of Canada for a bit.
Anyone I miss? What should I do as a tourist in some of these parts? I know a bunch of my days will be spent driving to the next town, but there would be time to visit something while I'm there.

James, aka SuperGLS, over on EXD is trying to get a quick meet together at Taco Bell in Tyson's Corner, VA this weekend. If you need info as far as address and details let me know and I'll get all the specifics from him. This will be an afternoon thing and I will be bringing my dog out to the event as well. Just a quick 30min-45min meet to talk, grab some food, the usual meet thing so to speak.

Alright. So i've done a little date searching to avoid any meet conflict with other sites, and i'm going to throw Saturday, June 13th out there as the day for this. Looking to do a pot luck/BBQ thing here. Everyone brings something and we chill, eat and check out some rides. Plenty of stuff to do, plenty of parking and free to get in. It's Northfield Dam on rt. 254 in Thomaston, CT. Swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes and a pavillion should the weather decide not to fully cooperate.
Going to get out there and snap some pics once the park opens up for the season to give everyone an idea of the layout. I know it's 4 months away, but wanted to see what kind of general interest I can get going for this to make sure it would be worthwhile. This is going to be for EXD,CH, Elantra Club, NT and the members of F.A.R.T, so hopefully we can score a decent turnout!

I am looking to have a meet the end of August I would say August 23. Since everyone has been doing 2 day meets then the 23 and 24 of August. Right now I am looking into Little Bay Park in Whitestone, NY. Its pretty much right off the Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridge so it wont be to bad of travel.
At the park there is a baseball field, soccer, a hockey rink(so bring your rollerblades and hockey sticks) there is a dog run so if u have a dog and want to bring him/her feel free. If you want to go swimming we can go into Fort Totten but the cars cant go on the grounds there they have to stay in a parking lot.
What do you think? I am still looking into other parks around so this isnt a definite yet on location.

I will be moving the end of Feb. with my family about 5 minutes away from where I am living now. Money is extremely tight so the less the movers have to move the better. Unfortunately we cant pay anyone so our payments will be with BEER and SODA. Most of you know the situation with my dad having the Stroke so thats why money is extremely tight. If you can help that would be great. Let me know.

Hi MD/PA people! I'm planning a road trip in mid-March, roughly from College Park, MD to downtown Pittsburgh, PA. It'll be a Sunday, so hopefully there's not much traffic in most places but I wouldn't count on it in DC.
Google says: Total 243mi in 4.25 hours, or an average of 57.2mph:
DC Beltway to I-270 North to Frederick, then I-70 West to near Pittsburgh.
Then switch to I-76 North and I-276 West into downtown Pittsburgh.
But I want to check alternatives. For example, just getting to Frederick, Google says it's 44mi and anywhere from 51 to 80 minutes depending on traffic. (52mph or 33mph). If traffic is bad, Google says taking I-95N or Rt.29N to get on I-70W further eastwards might be faster (71-76min).
Then, the bulk of the trip (215mi) is probably on I-70W in PA. There is I-68W under the MD border, but Google says that adds 30-45min, so that'll be avoided unless there's news of some major problem on I-70. Like if it snows... its it better to approach Pittsburgh from the East (i-76) or from the South (i-79)? And lastly, getting into downtown Pittsburgh, Google says to take I-376. I could also use Rt.30 and it would only take 5 more minutes, plus it might save me some tolls.
Anyone in western PA have any advice?

Hey all, with winter approaching I would like to take my car in and just have everything looked at. I dont have a mechanic of my own being that I used to take my car to Firestone all the time because my friend worked there but he recently moved. Does anyone know a reputable mechanic around the Queens or Nassau area? Thanks in advance.

Yep, just got back. Rained from the Penn state line (Ohio side) until we came back to Oh. crappy weather the entire time, felt bad for the B-I-L as it was his wedding. SE spent Fri, Sat and part of Sun in the Belmar-Eatontown area. Then Sunday we drove up to the Ridegwood/Wyckoff/City area to meet her friend then headed toward home about 5pm. Got a nice view of the NYC skyline while driving the wrong direction on 80. . . interesting time. The wedding was over the top. So. . on to my observations:
- Attn all Jersey owners: If you are experiencing tire vibration issues, it's not your tires. It's the road. Moving out of state is the only solution. Trust me.
- WTF is up with all the "jughandles"? Too good to turn left? I mean I don't like NASCAR either, but that's no reason to only turn right and screw up the entire state's traffic flow.
-OK, please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PUT UP SOME DAMN SIGNS!!!! I don't mean the post-it sized sign ON the onramp to notify you that you just missed the parkway. Yes, you jersey natives may know where you're going, but no one else does.
- OK, if you choose the wrong offramp (read above for reasons why) there is no quick fix for the oopsie. Instead you'll drive 26 miles in wide loopish things that get you no where. eventually, you MIGHT get back to the parkway. But don't count on it.
- PA. . . OMG where do I start? Stop signs at the end of onramps? WTF were they thinking? toll-road that cost $20 to go across plus the cost of new suspension parts that are left from the craters and seems. . .
All in all we had a great time. Just glad to be back home to normalcy.

I have now concluded my 3000 mile trek from Claremont, Ca to Hyannis, Ma. The car never gave me as much as a hiccup. It just kept on going and going and only asked for a half quart of oil due to the 44 hours worth of 3000-3500RPM top gear cruising. As far as states go, I went through Ca, Az, Nm, Tx, Ok, Ar, Tn, Va, Wv, Md, Pa, Nj, Ny, Ct, Ri, and finally Ma. I must say, it is good to be here.

I live in Buies Creek, NC, which is about 40-45 Min from Raleigh/Cary, NC.
I want to put in a new stereo/cdp (a simple Pioneer CD receiver from Crutchfield, see my post in audio/video section) in my wife's 2003 Elantra and it doesn't look like i can do it by myself as it involves removal of the dash...(some say it's simple, but I just don't feel like trying it and screwing it up)
Is there anyone who can help me do this around Raleigh/Cary, NC? I would (and my wife too) would so appreciate this.
Thanks a Lot in advance.

But I would still like to meet up with whomever can make it! Let's get together sometime soon! Where? When? Well, I'm not so sure, but I will be working 9-5ish this week in Elkridge and I something similarish next week in Dulles.
