Still just a dream, but dreams are what keep us (at least me) going.

There are several new cars out there that i like. But i'm torn between more sport or practicality.

Definitions:
Sporty = 200+ hp, great handling, manual
Practicality = passenger/cargo room, economical, sub $27k

One overall criteria: a more professional look.
Since this will be the car i'll have for going to work during the week.

Now for the present choices:
2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0t track in Karussel White

Sporty : 210hp, LSD, Brembo brakes, strut brace, sport suspension, 6spd manual
Practical : Only 2 dr, 10cu ft trunk, less rear seat room, up to 30mpg , $27k

Low down: Definitely sporty, with good mpg return, but sacrifice space and upper end of price bracket

2010 Mustang V6 premium coupe in white with black stripes, HIDs, pony package, and accessory package 1

Sporty: 210hp , 5spd manual
Practical : Only 2 dr, 13cu ft trunk, smallest rear seat room, up to 26mpg, $27k

Low down: Not as sporty as the Gen coupe tho does have 20 more tq, Love the sporty look with the options, But sacrifice both room and mpg and upper end of price bracket

2009 Lancer Ralliart in Onyx Blue or white

Sporty: 237hp, AWD w/LSD, strut brace, sport suspension, 6sp Auto
Practical: 4drs, 10cu ft trunk, full rear seat, up to 25mpg, $26-28k (recaro package is 2k)

Low down: Definitely sporty with whopping 253tq and AWD, No manual tho, More passenger room but small trunk, sacrifice mpg for the power and AWD, upper end of price bracket (until the Sportback comes which would increase cargo space but i fear make the base price $28k)

2010 Kia Soul Sport in white

Sporty: 142hp, "sport" suspension, 5 spd manual
Practical: 5 door, 19cu ft, most rear seat space, up to 30mpg, $17

Low down: Sacrifices the sport for full practicality but only reaches 30mpg, easily affordable price

For the professionalism: Genesis Coupe and Lancer Ralliart look the most professional. Mustang can fit in the professional arena. Soul might be a bit to funky. Granted I am in psychology.

Note: All these cars would remain very near stock as I would have a project car. Maybe a few mods [exhaust, minor visual changes (like grille on Gen coupe or billet on Mustang)]

Genesis Coupe is my favorite in your price range but then agan a 2010 v6 Camaro can fit that bill and may be the last of a great name. Mustang is always a nice choice but a bit common in the V6. Dont see you in a Soul your not 16 anymore smile.gif

I like the new Mustang (Dig the return of sequential turn signals!), but they are dime-a-dozen. Have been for decades.

The Genesis eould be my choice. Damn sexy car!

None of those. Mazda 3 hatch since you are including the Kia.

I really like the design on the new mustang, but V6 mustang = fail. My vote is for the Gen coupe

New one just does not look good. It would definitely need a new front bumper to fix it, so no.

MD: I looked up the 2LT to build. Its right at the top of price point and options put it over more so than the Lancer. Tho some of the items i could probably find on the side for cheaper. It does come with more HP, LSD, and 6spd manual, can get up to 29mpg and i definitely like that you can get Beige leather (like the Stang). However, I'm not really a Chevy person. I respect the cars esp the powertrains, but just dont dig em emotionally.
As for the Soul, ya i can see that.

Steve: V8 is out of the price range. I'm not gonna be making that much when i get to working for the Govt.

I would say with those choices, the Gen coupe would win hands down (and not just cuz its a Hyundai!). Its not a car you see everyday (unlike the Mustang), the Ralliart just doesn't do much for me and the Soul, while interesting and new, I don't think would be near as fun to drive as the rest.

What about the 2009 WRX hatch though? There you get 4 doors (though not much of a trunk), and certainly get plenty of power and quickness. If I didn't have kids, no doubt my next car would most likely be the WRX hatch. The 5 door hatch with the sport grille added comes to $26,500 including destination. With that you get a 265hp turbocharged subaru boxer engine with 244 lb/ft torque and great handling. The interior is sweet also. Anyways, I voted other as I would get the WRX.

I have no interest in the retro large-feel musclecar Mustang. The Soul is cute, and appealing, but not for me. I like practical cars (4-doors, hatch) but I have to admit the Genesis Coupe is very tempting. It looks so good, probably handles great (signed up to test drive it soon!! http://www.drivegenesis.com/ ) the problem is price because what I'd really want is the full-on fast, sharp V6 Track and that's a $29k toy! The Ralliart and WRX are interesting but I would take either of them in Wagon/Hatch form. I would also consider the Mazdaspeed3, and maybe the regular Mazda 3 would be a better performance/price compromise for me. Or the GTI...

Alex: I'd kinda forgotten about the WRX. And ya its got the sport and space, but its MPG suffers 17-25. AWD is the killer on the fuel. Definetly needs the grille.

Cobas: I'm only looking at the 2.0t track not the v6 and the v6 track is 32k. And the reason i dont consider the Mazda 3 is this....

I just can't get used to that.

oh c'mon... that Mazda3 looks sooo Happy!

Out of the choices you have there, I'd see myself with either the GenCoupe or RalliArt... though an Impreza hatch(wrx) would be great to the list.

I took my friends GenCoupe for a little drive the other day just in the parking lot... and boy is it nice. Not enough space to really have fun, that and I didn't adjust his seat so I was eating the steering wheel.

Oh and the backend of the 2010 'Stang is inferior to the previous model

For me it's a Mazda RX7 FD with an LS7/T56 conversion.

Because once you go over to the Dark Side you don't wanna come back. tongue.gif

Other wise the Mustang would be nice. smile.gif
