I have a new 2011 Elantra that has a grease stain on the drivers door trim panel cloth. I tried using stain remover but only succeeded in fading the stain and leaving a stain ring from the stain remover. Any suggestions on how to remove both stains? Thanks.

What have people used it for?
I tried using it on the black molding but it really didn't help.
But I did use it to remove some door scratches from other cars. It's like a bit more rough than rubbing compound so it does take a little of the clear coat off. But after waxing it is fine. Probably not for most people, but my car has some major scratches and rubbing compound didn't remove any of the scratches.
**You have to be very gentle otherwise you may do damage**

My wife uses her Tacoma for work and she has a 12" by 18" or so magnetic sign for the buisiness on both sides. They get removed, cleaned, and dried then reapplied every time I wash the truck. I have even rotated whether they are on the front doors or the back doors each wash.
After last week's wash I noticed that if you stand in just the right spot so the light hits it, there is a rectangular 'watter spotty' looking spot on the rear doors. I threw a little wax on it, hoping it would buff off without any luck. Any suggestions???
It is very faint right not and not noticable unless you know to look for it. I could reminder her 'I told you so' when she got the signs, but it would be a lot more peaceful around here If I just took care of it.

Hey ya'll, I bought my 2006 Elantra in 2006 right off the lot and have never ever looked under the hood personally until yesterday. The shock, the horror, the dismay. Help me out here, how to get the engine bay clean? It is filthy! My husband's always been the one to fiddle with it but yesterday I decided to wash, vacuum and polish my car. Spring cleaning if you will. And then he took out some extra wires from the old subs that he had put in there 2 yrs. back and later removed when I blew them out so I walked with him to the front of the car to see where it all went, what it looked like, pretty much just curious about what it looks like in there under Elle's hood (yes the cars name is Elle) well... it looks nothing the engine bay for his new Vette it looks BAD, really really BAD. So, how do I clean it and make sure she knows mommy's sorry and still trying to learn about how cars work? I was thinking power washer under the hood but the battery cap covers are rather loose and I really don't want to get something like that wet. Thanks for the help

After this winter I'm looking to detail the engine compartment in my neighbor's 2010 Elantra Blue. I've detailed the engine compartment in my 2002 many times without any issue. I know not a whole lot is different under the hood between the 2010 and 2002 models, but I just want to make sure nothing is significantly different that I could potentiality screw up. Thanks!

Curious as to how much of a difference their is to detailing a boat versus a car (sport fishers and jet skis n such)
Got a previous car wash customer asking and i don't want to just turn him down. So i figured i'd ask here.

Welcome to the Elantra Club 2010 Exterior Detailing Contest Voting! Please take a few minutes to look at the photos and cast your votes in the poll.
I will have 2 prizes... One for the winner and one for the runner-up. They will be decided when the winners are selected! The reason I'm doing this is to save on shipping. If the winner is living in the USA, I will order from a US site and have them ship the item directly...
Now, on to the Pictures!
The vote will last 'til 11/24 ====================================================================
Slowgls - Wash the car with rain-x car wash with carnauba wax beads

- Wax the car with Merguiar's Gold class liquid wax
- Remove wax

A_V List of products: - Polyglaze Waterless Wash & Wax Foam
- Polyglaze Dash & Trim Care
- Eagle One 20/20 Perfect Vision Glass Cleaner
- GS27 Waterless Rim Cleaner
- 5 Star Heavy Duty Degreaser
- Polyglaze Tyre Conditioner
- Meguiar's Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Coating
- Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover
- Polyglaze Bug, Tar and Grime Remover
- Bunch of Microfiber Towels and other cloths, paper towels
What I did here is my weekly touch-up routine. I was happy enough to use these shots for my entries. Because Melbourne is in water restrictions, I can't use fresh water to clean the car, and don't have a tank or anything like that, so I use all waterless products. Steps:
- Use Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover to remove heavy dirt, small bird droppings and tree sap.
- Use Polyglaze Bug, Tar and Grime remover for bigger droppings.
- Do all the plastic and rubber trim with Polyglaze Dash & Trim Care.
- Clean the paint with Waterless Wash & Wax Foam.
- Use the Eagle One on the windows and mirrors.
- The degreaser is to clean off all the old tyre dressing. I sprayed it on the paper towel and applied it to the tyre. Scrubbed it off after a few minutes, and wiped off the excess degreaser.
- Coated the tyres with Polyglaze Tyre Conditioner. I was going to follow that up with Polyglaze Tyre Black, but I found it unnecessary for now.
- Use the GS27 Waterless Rim Cleaner on the rims.
- Sprayed Meguiar's Tire Dressing in the wheel wells.
My weekly touch-up routine is usually just paint, trim, glass and rims. The full routine is just the addition of Meguiar's Quick Clay Kit, and Polyglaze Dimond Finish Polish (also contains wax). I don't usually give that much attention to the tyres.

I used 1. mean green degreaser 2. a mr. clean magic eraser 3. turtle wax zip wash 4. klasse aio polish 5. eagle one gel wax with carnuba(which i got free with a rebate from the club) 6. no touch foaming tire shine 7. foam sponges from walmart 8. microfiber rags from walmart 9. detailing microfiber rags from walmart 10. 3 gal bucket
The steps i took to get my results are as follows:
- First off i covered my sri filter with a grocery bag
- Rinsed entire car to get it wet.
- I sprayed mean green on the black trim, extremely dirty spots that looked like tar, sprayed everything in engine compartment, and sprayed wheels.
- Scrubbed black trim with mr. clean magic eraser.
- Washed entire car using a soapy solution of a lot of zip wash and water in the 3 gal bucket and scrubbed everything with foam sponges.
- Sprayed wheels, tires, and wheel wells with no touch foaming tire shine.
- Applied klasse aio with Microfiber rag and buffed it off imediately after applying it with a detailing microfiber rag to all surfaces of the car including glass.
- Applied eagle one gel wax to all painted surfaces and trim with a microfiber rag and buffed it off with a detailing microfiber rag.
==================================================================== Alex2004GT Detailing products used: - Armor All Power Wash Gel
- Meguires Hot Rims Cleaner
- Meguires High Endurance Tire Shine
- Meguires Quick Detailer
- 2 buckets
- Microfiber wash mitt
- Several microfiber towels/rags
- The Absorber Synthetic Drying Chamois
Detailing Steps - First I hand washed the car using my armor all power wash gel and a microfiber wash mitt. I used one bucket for the soap and the second to rinse off the mitt. After the car was washed, I used the synthetic chamois to hand dry the car. After the car was dried I wiped around each door and the door sills with a damp, clean microfiber towel.
- Second I tackled the 18" rims. I sprayed down the wheels with Meguires Hot Rims tire spray and hand washed each wheel using a microfiber rag. After each wheel was polished I applied the Meguires High Endurance tire gloss to the tires using a foam microfiber pad. At this point I went around and hand dried each wheel with another microfiber towel.
- Now that the car was nice and clean I got out the Meguires quick detailing spray and applied to a small section of the car at a time. I used one microfiber towel to wipe the car after applying the detailing spray and a second to buff the car to a nice high luster shine!

So this is more of a discussion than anything.
I've been pretty busy lately. Nothing new really. But as a result I have dedicated very little time to my car. When I first bought my new '10 Touring, I declined the rust proofing as my family always has... traditionally we've always taken our cars for a wash weekly. Gets all the grime off the car and should be as good as (or better) than rust proofing.
Needless to say, summer's come and gone and fall's on it way out and my car is filthy. This does not bode well for winter. I need to force myself to get a car wash at least bi-weekly if not every week... they're only $5 after all... $6 with undercar (which is pretty important considering what I'm trying to do).
What do you do to ensure you keep your car clean in the winter?

Last year i was determined to find out which Wax was going to be the best to keep our Mustangs looking great and to protect the paint.
If you read the Manufacturers blurb, they all claim to be the best. It can become very confusing trying to sort one from the other. So i conducted my own test and came to the conclusion that it really does not make a big difference which wax you use if your paintwork has been buffed to a nice shine beforehand.
There were however some big differences in the application and removal of the waxes. Some were difficult to wipe off, others would smear and some left ugly traces behind in body seams.
The best bang for your buck wax i came across in the fifty diffent waxes that i tested was DP Max Wax. This wax only costs about $40! The price range of the waxes i tested were between $10 and $250.
DP Max Wax was extremely easy to apply and remove, left no traces behind and left a brilliant shine. Think it is sold by Autogeek in the USA.
Here is a Link to a Thread on an Aussie Detailing site about this test
http://www.detailparadise.com.au/modules.p...asc&start=0Since that test i have become an avid fan of Sealants. Have read many good reports about Klasse and also Wolfgang Sealants. I have not tried them, but have used Chemicalguys Jetseal109 many times and am very impressed with the brilliant shine that is achieved after a few layers have been applied.
But when it comes to car detailing, there are many differing opinions about which is best.
Which is your favourite Wax/Sealant? And why?
Rocket.

I saw a video on youtube of a guy using toothpaste and a polisher to restore headlight lenses. I did pretty much what the guy in the youtube video did. I used a mixture of 1 tablespoon plain Aquafresh, 2 tbsp baking soda, 2 tbsp peroxide. This was enough to do one headlight. I applied the mixture and buffed it off 3 times on each lens. Here are the results. .........................^before.............................................after^ ..................before^............................after^
Not perfect, but a whole lot better and pretty cheap.

Last night I was at my parents house and my car managed to get barraged with bird droppings. Typically I would rush out to the car wash, but with money being tight and me needing a day of downtime (ie. not leaving the house except to take the dog for a walk), I needed a new option.
I did some searching on the internet and found the following concoction:
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1/4 cup of water
1 tsp of dish soap
Mix the ingredients very well then apply liberally to the stain. Wipe clean.
I was AMAZED that this worked perfectly. This is the first solution that entirely ate away at the bird droppings. I was a bit concerned about putting vinegar AND dish soap on my car, but I read some reviews and everyone thought it was a great mixture where all the ingredients offset the risks of one another.
All in all, I'd STRONGLY suggest this if you're time limited and can't wash your entire car.

let me know what ya think. i was hoping to get my windows tinted before i entered the contest but i guess this will do.

Hi all
Until now I've used a waterless wash and wax spray to keep my car looking sharp. I'm hapy with the results given the time and effort it takes, but I want to try using a proper polish and wax. I have a combination product and just need some clarification on a few things. First, the instructions say to apply a small amount and cover a small area at a time. How much is a small amount exactly? How much should I cover in one go? Also, it says to wait for it to dry to a white haze. How long should this take, and will I see it on my white car?
Thanks for any input.

After last weekends heavy rainstorms and hi winds, my passenger's side headlamp developed moisture and fogginess. A week prior I installed an HID kit which required for me to drill a 1" hole in the back of the dustcap. Well I dried out the headlight and the next morning there was moisture again same amount. I am at a loss as to what to do. I ordered an extra set of dustcaps in case I want to revert back to stock and maybe take the car back to the dealer for a replacement. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! BTW the lights work great...

Guys and Gals...
I need supplies and I'm sure some of you also do need some. I have been able in the past to obtain a discount from e-Shine for supplies. Let me know if you are interested.
Right now just want to see if it would be worth it. Usually, it's 15% discount for a total order of $500... I will have to send Chris an email...
e-Shine Website People around Canada's Capital region (Ottawa if you didn;t know!), you could also be in with me if we don't get enough people. If we order over $150, we pay no shipping. So I would order the supplies and we could meet for you to pick them up. Let me know for this also.
