I see at least a dozen of these Captivas driving around down here in Florida. Most have had Tennessee license plates, but this one had Florida plates. Just happened to be right in front of me at a stop light so I was able to snap a couple pictures.
While searching online, it appears that the Captiva is made by Daewoo but has not been available in USA. Browsing the chevy website it doesn't come up. Anyone else seen one of these around or know how/where they're getting them? They look smaller than an Equinox. -------------------- x

Check out this wikipedia article.
Summary: It's a Saturn Vue. It is the Holden Captiva in Australasia or the Vauxhall Antara in the UK. It was discontinued here when Saturn was dismantled, but it has continued as the Captiva Sport in South America. For some reason, they reintroduced it as the Captiva in North America last year, but only for fleet buyers, so that's what you're seeing. I knew it was the same thing as the VUE, but did not know they were offering it from Chevy for fleet sales. So pretty much all of them available here were once rental vehicles. Hmmm... I wouldn't think that to be cost effective for that low of a production volume.
Better question is why would anyone want one. Id taky any if the Hyundai/Kia SUVs over that pig! It's not THAT bad. Would rather have that than a dated Santa Fe. -------------------- x

They just started selling to fleets in November, so they probably ARE rental vehicles.
They're made in Mexico and sold to the public in South America, so they're just selling a little extra up here to fleets. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Iirc they are now building the equinox and probably this model at the Old Saturn plant in spring hill tn. Maybe that's why so many have tn tags. Florida seems like it would be a major rental car state with Orlando and the other tourism.
