Well, oiml8 and I decided to do some regularly scheduled maintainance on my 1988 Cadillac Sedan DeVille.
We originally planned on doing a tire rotation and an oil change. When we got the front wheels off the car, we noticed I had no front brake pads left. When we got to the back axle, the rear struts were completely blown out and weren't holding any air. So we went to the local advance auto and bought some Bendix titanium semi-metallic pads and a pair of rear Monroe Sensatrac (auto load leveling air suspension compliant) struts. We also had the almost brand new rotors turned at a local shop. So, we got the front brakes changed and decided it would be a good idea to bleed them. The fluid was BLACK. with huge air bubbles. So, luckily Scott had some DOT 3 brake fluid in his garage for the quick fix. Rear struts were half as much of a pain in the ass as the Elantra. The independent rear suspension is stiffened up by separating the coil from the spring (no spring compressor needed ya!) Also fixed my wiper washer nozzles which were plugged. Took it for a good spin, looks like the tranny fluid I added last oil change to the oil did its job cleaning out the gunk. The car squats under acceleration, and stops much sooner. So it's a BIG improvement. Now all I need are some wider, higher rated tires, and I will be set! -------------------- Come mothers and fathers / Throughout the land And don't criticize / What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters / Are beyond your command Your old road is / Rapidly agin'.
