These are very preliminary but Mazda says this is the direction the car is going...

Mazda is aiming for the new Mazda3 to tip the scales at a scant 2,650 lbs and is also shooting for a 40-mpg highway rating.

An updated version of the current SkyActiv 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that pushes out 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque will likely power the car. There will also be a 189-hp 2.5-liter SkyActiv offering and possibly the same 2.2-liter diesel that will be making its way to the U.S. in the new Mazda6.

Better, the M3 doesn't look like a sway back mule...

Looks like they morphed a porsche design into an Elantra GT Hatchback. Ick...

I like it. I loved my first gen Mazda3. With Mazda's heritage- it's sure to be a nice drivers car and I would love to have one with a diesel and 6spd MT.

If they stick with that front end, I prefer that over the current model. And the skyactive engine is def the right direction.

The article from which the first images are taken:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mazda/3/60761...-mazda-3-leaked

I'm not sure if the diesel will be made available in the states, I keep reading conflicting things on that.

One thing we'll see here in the states is that these will be produced in Mexico.

I like the sedan. Hatch just looks like an SUV.

Looks to be a great small car

Mazda really has their mixture of styling right on the nail, these beauties sell like crazy in Australia

I'm glad that mainstream cars actually have decent styling and it seems toyota is so far behind with styling they might as well just give up with the corolla
