In looking at some random member profiles it's amazing how many people list "No information" as their car basics on their page.
If that's true in your case, please add your basic car info via your My Controls area. Thanks.

Just like most aspects of ElantraClub, you profile page is very detailed. You'll find everything from the unusual... embedded songs and videos to the more typical personal info, interests and of course topics and posts. One area I bet many people miss is front and center... the Tabs.
There you'll find widgets showing your topics and posts, recent gallery pics and blogs, your videos, friends, page settings the the ultra cool personal stats widget. I love the stats because it shows some unique stuff like the times of day you post most often.
Check it out.

Usually I'm not the first to notice cuz I'm only on during the night time. But Mitch nice little addition to the banner. No other car can have that and maybe in the next few years other Hyundais will have that title. Makes us a little special doesn't it?

Much has been posted before and I'm guessing the topic will continue in the future, but the below quote from the owner Mitch, says a lot about what any/all members should consider about this site and their involvement. And you know it ain't really all that hard:
QUOTE (elantragt)
So how can we assure EC stays as good as it is? Well, people need to be active. We need new topics and posts, obviously. Then beyond that, people need to add to our Product reviews, add their car(s) to the Garage, post pics to the Gallery, add to the Wiki, do a DIY project/writeup for the club, etc...
If people would like to see me continue to run this place (vs. being corporation owned) we need members to step up and use the EC Mall links when they buy online, or donate or become a VIP. The truth is, without that loyalty and support, I'll have a hard time not being forced to sell at some point. It's just reality.
I'm not asking anyone to do anything, but the owner of the club is and he's the one whom all here, whether die hard regulars or those looking for some quick info and a little humor now and again should respect. He puts a lot of his personal time here because he not only believes in the product at hand but he also wants to have a great place for any and all comers to enjoy free of the usual methods of keeping a special interest forum alive.
I've seen those other sites and they pale in comparison to EClub, Mitch has done so much over the past 10 years to create a framework that contains a wealth of info (and not on just Hyundais, but all cars!), humor and entertainment that letting it go the way of so many other special interest forums (corporate owned, not enthusiast owned) would be a great loss to anyone whether an Elantra owner or any car owner.
You are Elantra Club, and you keep it going!

Here's an article about the unfortunately trend of automobile enthusiast forums being taken over by corporations. A couple of "other" Hyundai and Elantra forums have gone this way and, as you read the article, you may recognize some of the symptoms if you visit those sites, especially in the past several months.
This site may have a tighter focus than other forums or less overall traffic, but I settled in here several months ago because it's
quality traffic and interesting people.
Take a moment and give a shout-out to Mitch for keeping this forum independent (and that is certainly by choice -- there have been opportunities). Then take more than a few moments to make some progress updating your garage, putting your location on the map, or writing a product review -- anything that will add a little bit to the body of knowledge here.
It's a long article, so here's an excerpt that I found particulary interesting:
QUOTE
As the management of the site becomes less a labor of love, and more a function of “business as usual”, some critical changes take place.Updates on the forum’s progress towards its original mission is no longer provided.Neither information nor direction is given to the staff, which results in a general feeling of apathy amongst even the most loyal of members. They become less invested in the shared goals of the forum, and less protective of its “greatness”.Lagging content rapidly translates to dwindline search engine results as membership starts to drop.
In pursuit of “web domination”, additional purchased forums are added to the same server farms. As a result, bandwidth and server response times diminish. What once was an active and thriving community of car enthusiasts, sharing a common goal and dream, turns into an informational wasteland where the only remaining members with any major technical knowledge eventually go elsewhere. At times this can happen quickly, while in others it takes a while longer for the passionate members to become jaded.
A true enthusiast site is easily identified by a few key characteristics:
Staff – The staff share a common mission, work well together, enjoy each others’ company, and generally consider their colleagues as good friends. They pass this enthusiasm and loyalty on to the members, who often aspire to become site staff as well.
Events – Forum members and staff coordinate meets and events to share their enthusiasm for their vehicles and engage in community activities (shows, races, cruises, etc) involving their cars.
Knowledge – Staffers not only own the vehicles that are the topic of their sites, but they also spend a great deal of time working on their cars, and thus gain an expertise that can’t be replicated by non-enthusiasts.
Members – The great working force of successful forums. From providing help to lending an ear to fellow enthusiasts, you are the forum.Where staff members may be the nerve center of a forum the dedicated members are the life blood. The forums are for you and you help steer their development.

Hello,
Just wanted to say thanks to all of those who have posted information and tips on here. I had to change all 4 rotors and pads today and without the help and tips from those who have done it before, as well as the info from the Hyundai site I wouldn't have known about lets say it wouldn't have gone as smoothly and more 4-letter words would be involved.
One tip I will offer is when you change the rear rotor, and have to re-attach the A-frame, make sure you push the backing plate back to the center of the car or you'll get a grinding noise as it contacts the disc.
I'm sure you can figure out how I know this.
Once again, thanks to all.
Ken

So Mitch and I were talking today and it's come to light something very clear.....
We're lacking attendance, effort of our members and the community is lacking respect.
Lots of posts go unanswered and sometimes even new members are greeted by only mods. You don't have to be a mod to greet new people. You'll see the profile status in their posts - IE;
[attachment=3795:profile.png]
When you see Posts: (1) - that means their new and thats their first post.
Welcome them - dont think it's just the mods that welcome them.
Another thing is - who just clicks - "new posts" to see the newest topics? = I'm guilty - but I also post in old stuff as well. Digging up old topics is not a bad thing sometimes....
There's another cool feature thats been here for a bit - "show unanswered topics" - IE;
[attachment=3796:topics.png]
This shows you topics of which people have not responded to... That you can respond... to.
Even if you dont know jack{:content:}amp;{:content:}amp; about the current topic... you could research it... Maybe the poster does not know how to do that? Doesnt make them stupid or a N00b but maybe they are new to the forum and have never been to one. Dont kiss new peoples butts, BUT make them feel welcomed. We're not just any old website. We're a community. Make the new people feel that way.
It seems people just either have a lack of effort or a lack of confidence but whatever it is - you wont know unless you post or try to help out people.
Seems this community has become stale because of the members. Hell... members keep this place active. Without you guys we're nothing and since a bunch of you have seemed absent... we're slowly fading away.
Our latest donation campaign brought in some money but what the donation campaign was really geared towards was bringing people here to garner up chat and posts.
Is there something you'd like to see changed here?
Is there something you don't like?
What can we do with our community to make it better. - SERIOUSLY - anything?
Feel free to mention your thoughts. You won't get burned or beat up posting it!
I love this place and hell if it wasnt around I'd have -$600 in my pocket because I would have had my timing belt done by a dealer(stealer)ship. This place made it possible. I could have killed my engine but because of the wealth of knowledge around here, I had the confidence to TRY it. I would have quit if I couldnt have done it and had it done by someone else.
How much money has this community saved you? All those quirks you may have had and simple people like you guys posted a solution - and saved someone the headaches of bringing their car in.
Even if you cant donate - donate your attendance, effort & respect this place deserves.
This post isint about the money or donations even though I mention it.
It's about you guys, the backbone of our community.
Post a new topic saying you put your shoes on for heavens sake, I'm sure someone has a more efficient way than you do
Dont let this community become a stale bag of chips.
Chip in, pull up your pants & skirts and start kicking up dust before it settles and we disappear.

I noticed many people have blurred or obscured their license plates in photos they've uploaded. Is there a specific reason for doing this? I suppose someone could maybe get info about you by looking up the plate number? Just not sure if I should be doing the same, and if this is a recommended practice. Thanks!

I've set up the Gallery to allow multiple uploads. Depending on your member level you can upload anywhere from 3-5 pictures at once. I need some people from different member levels (regular member, VIP, Lifetimer) to test this out to see if it's functioning for them. You'll see the new "Bulk Upload" button that allows this function.
Thanks for your help.

It seems like we get a few members a month making a Gallery album, and honestly, that's awful considering you don't need to be a VIP to add pics. Also, it seems like members don't realize they can add pics to any other category, not just add pics to their album. Come on. let's have some fun... share your pics and let's build the Gallery. Thanks.

I made a change over at
EC Mall I hope you like. With over 100 affiliate banners, the page is pretty long. I added a "category jump" that makes navigating the page easier. Click on a category and the page auto scrolls to that area. I also added a "back to the top link" to easily go back if you're at the bottom of the page. I definitely think this works better overall.

What's everyone's thoughts on Mitch's post? It would be good to see peoples ideas, thoughts and feelings towards this community. Mitch poured his thoughts into the blog posting and at least members should recognize it and out of respect of our community - should post SOMETHING.
Mitch's blog posting.
Snippet - QUOTE
Then came the HD generation of Elantra and things changed. It didn't appeal to the true enthusiast or tuners and the club suffered. The old school GT owners started buying different cars and the new HD people weren't posting or bragging on their cars. That was the start of the slowdown. I tried everything to get more activity and all the while was putting new improvements in the community.

I'm just wondering how people generally check the forum?
As for me, I have the home page bookmarked, then I click on Today's Active Topics so that I can see what's new everywhere. Is that what people generally do, or is there a better way to keep up on what's going on, regardless of what subforum.

Im at work and just started messin around in the Review Zone... Mitch did an amazing job and really wish i would have paid more attention to it when he first completed it. Lets just say when i get home from work i will be spending the rest of the night posting reviews on just about everything i've ever bought for my car. I dont have much free time, im sure alot of you dont either, but i am devoting my free time to this tonight and i hope some of you other members do as well.
To me it seems the review zone would really cut down on dumb questions. instead of posting topics on if i should buy "this", you can read a review and contact that member via PM with questions.
Great Job Mitch hope this takes off

So far only two sales has been credited to us from our Affiliates page (now called EC Affiliate Mall). Can you please
bookmark the page so that you can go through our affiliates when you shop online? It's just one simple extra step (checking our affiliate page and using those links) that might just help EC stay online. I'm trying everything I can to keep EC around and this is important to the club.

One thing that suprises is how few of our members spend any amount of time checking out community basics. "Where's the affiliate links?", "where's the DIY's?". "where do I go VIP?", "how do I add an avatar?"... the list of questions we get seems endless. I set this club up to be a place that has a lot to offer. I just need members to do a little bit of "work" on their own.
I think it's rather important for all members to at the least check out all links under the banner. If not, I'd consider you more of a visitor than a true member. Things like the Community dropdown and the My Assistant link are very important areas that seem to be missed. As is the Help area. And of course, there's a ton you can do and see in the My Controls section.
If you're going to be a long term member, please familiarize yourself with the community.
It will make your experience here all the more enjoyable, believe me.

Is it just me, or do the pictures in the members' garages not display properly with IE when you click on them?
I'm not talking about the gallery pictures, but the pictures you see when you view someone's garage,
like ElantraGTs garage.
I'm using IE 9.0.2 in Windows 7 64-bit. When I click on the pictures in the garage, the pop-up is wide enough, but the height is only half that of the picture, causing the bottom not to display. The pop-up window cannot be resized.
I do not have this problem if I use Google Chrome.
So, if it's just me, I'll try to figure it out, but I was wondering if this is true for anyone using IE 9.0.2.
Thanks.

I notice a lot of members are attaching photos that are way too big into posts. It's not an issue with them messing up the topic view because the forum software reduces it to the proper size in posts. The problem is that people are adding pics that are between one and two megabytes and that takes up a big portion of VIP's storage space. For example a 800x600 pic is probably around 150K but the same pic at 2500x1900 or so may take up ten times the storage space. Try to keep your attachments no bigger than 1024x768. If you need a good and simple image editior, download Irfanview from our download center.
Keep in mind I'm referring to attached photos, hosted by EC. This doesn't affect photos hosted elsewhere like Photobucket.
Thanks.

ElantraClub is now an Ebay partner. If you're looking for something on Ebay, go through our in-topic, forum main index, portal or
this link first and help the club out (it doesn't have to be Ebay Motors, we're hooked up with all of Ebay).
Thanks folks.

Got it figured out.
I want to use the image in THIS post (my own attachment) in THIS post, but it won't let me just copy the linked address or copy and use the attachment tag from the post.
http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php...ost&id=3613 is the pic link, but when I try the img tag, it tells me:
QUOTE
Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed
I also tried [attachment=3613:IMG_0258__Large_.JPG], but as you can see, no such luck.
I know I have done it before, just can't figure it out now. Seems the attachment is no longer saved as a .jpg?
