Yeah - the Rondo it is. I think they did a great job with it - makes me turn my head everytime I see it. I think with a couple of small changes it could be absolutely fantastic. I've been thinking about going to a dealer just to see one (I can't afford a new car - nor would I consider it now) so that I can see the fit and finish.

Yeah I totally agree. They missed one or two styling cues that could make it a great-looking vehicle from the outside. On the inside, they are very comfy and roomy (I got one as a loaner once). For a high vehcile, it handles well. For a young family that wants a little room, it's a great vehicle.
People have compared the Elantra Touring to the Rondo, but the Rondo is clearly bigger, more SUV-like. It's smallest engine option is a 2.4 L four, and you can get a V6 in it. I would love it if they would offer those engine choices on the Elantra Touring. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I think C&D said that for the 2.4L I4 automatic, it did the slowest 0-60 and 1/4 mile time of all the 2008 cars they tested.

It's definitely a Kia Rondo. I was at the Kia dealership yesterday hunting for my "harp-mobile" (see my post today... please!) and actually got my soft harp case to fit into it. It actually has both driver AND passenger front seats that fold flat. (the salesman seemed to have a hard time understanding that I had to have the driver's seat upright in order to drive with the harp in the vehicle in order to transport it to a performance!!!!) It doesn't get as good a mileage as the Elantra, but as a musician I loved that, like the Sonata, they named it after a classical form of music. LOL
Doohickie wrote: "People have compared the Elantra Touring to the Rondo, but the Rondo is clearly bigger, more SUV-like" I saw the video on the Touring but haven't been able to determine if it is going to have the same dimensions as the previous Elantra GT. Do either of them have a front passenger's seat that folds flat? Celtic Harp This post has been edited by CelticHarp: Feb 13 2008, 04:11 PM -------------------- A proud member of the club.

No Elantras have had front seats the fold flat to my knowledge. The Rondo really is a nice vehicle. I think the exterior is kind of plain and with even just a little load the rear springs seem to sag. Other than that, it's a good car.

The rear valence is really sporty for a 5 door car. Wonder how many styling options you can do with this car, let alone performance upgrades.
