so.. i was told that the Saturn L300 3.0 v6 has an aussie motor/engine..
i've tried googling and still come up with little to no info on aftermarket parts.. can you point me to any aussie sites that maybe just haven't made it to google's lists yet? or is it just not an engine anybody messes with? i "MIGHT" be buying this back from my father since i got a new job and will need another car.... and i'd like the mild 180 hp to reach 200..... Thanks ! -------------------- Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.
The packaging clearly stated '100'. I'm short ONE luft balloon. |

I asked him today and he said we haven't had an aussie made 3.0L V6. The last 3.0L V6 we've had was back in the day around 1986 to mid 1987. It was built by Nissan. It was last seen in the VL Commodore (Pictured below)
Here are the specs of it: QUOTE Cast-iron Bore (mm) 86.0 Capacity (cm3) 2962 Compression ratio 7.8:1 Configuration In-line Cylinders 6 Engine code 3.0ET Engine description 6cyl/SOHC/2v Engine location Front Engine orientation Longitudinal Head material Aluminium alloy Maximum power 150kW @ 5600rpm Maximum torque 296Nm @ 3200rpm Stroke (mm) 85.0 Valve train SOHC Valves per cylinder 2 Other than that after the 3.0 Holden started using the American 3800 Engine (3.8) Australia's major exporting engine is the 1.8 and 2.0 Family II engines which can be found in the Suzuki Reno and Most of the Daewoo models to name a few. It was first seen in the Holden Camira back in the 80's. Is Saturn a Nissan? If you have any other questions Ed my dad said he'd be happy to answer them. He got all excited when I mentioned Holden... He knows nothing about Hyundai's so yeah ... --------- Btw he said it was a really good engine. Holden stopped using because it was costing too much to import them from Japan. -------------------- 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Active 2.2 CRDi 6spd Auto, Ocean View 2014 Hyundai i30 elite , 1.6 CRDi, 6spd 5dr Hatch, Dazzling Blue 2009 Hyundai i30cw SX 1.6 CRDi 5spd 4dr Wagon, Hyper Silver 2007 Hyundai Getz S 1.4 DOHC 5spd 5dr Hatch, Blue 2005 Hyundai Elantra elit, 2.0HVT 5spd, 4dr Sedan, Ebony Black 1998 Hyundai Excel GX, 1.5 DOHC, 5spd, 3dr Hatch, Red |

Saturn = GM
The only modern 3.0 V6 I know of is in the Suburu (Outback & Liberty). This post has been edited by Seinster: Sep 25 2006, 05:28 AM -------------------- |

i THOUGHT ALL the Subies were FLAT 6's. Of course, it's a differnet market.
I wonder if the 3.0 was an export only? -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

thanks joe..
well it was based off the opel/vauxhall vectra.. and i "heard' it had the same engine as the Saab 9-5 and the Cadillac Catera... but someone .. i can't remember who told me it was the aussie powerplant.. i 'thought' it would have been the same as the Malibu since the size and specs are similar... but the layout looked totally different.. guess it'll be a car that just won't be modded until i can find a definitive GM Twin from the US. but thanks anyways guys ! -------------------- Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.
