I am trying to connect a Scan Gauge so I can monitor engine performance while driving. Most cars have the OBD connector conveniently located under the dash or in the center console.
My new Elantra Touring has it under the hood! Ouch! My gauge comes with a cable, but I need suggestions on where to snake it through the firewall with minimum disruption. Are there any existing openings that are big enough? I can`t see any. Thanks in advance. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

The one you see under the hood is a hyundai proprietary connector.
There should be one at the bottom of your crash pad by your leg. -------------------- |

I did open the fuse panel and it`s not visible anywhere near the fuses. I`ll go back with a flashlight and crawl on the floor for another look. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

By law it is suppose to be very near the driver. Correct. It has to be within a certain distance of the steering column. There's one on the inside somewhere. You may have to dig a *little,* but it's there. -------------------- |

I found it!
Had to go under on my back with a flashlight, but it`s under the dash, just above your left knee (on a LHD car). Have hooked up my ScanGauge so I can get full real-time data on engine temp, fuel usage, etc., as well as the usual ODB trouble codes. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Congrats on that! I'm another SG user, so I know how you feel. If mine is out for some reason, I feel naked. I'm currently running +9.5% or so for calibration and it's just about spot-on for MPG. That'll most likely go down to about +6.8% once we get on summer gas (I'm in PA).
