Oddly enough, this is the only pic I have of the Forte at stock height wit hthe 17x7.5 wearing 225/45 BFG Rivals.
Since our cars are actually pretty similar in size and use the same wheel offsets and tire sizes..... for looks I'd recommend an 18x7.5, +45 offset wearing 225/40/18 tires. That will bring the wheels closer to the fender line, making the car look wider while giving you plenty of tire and making the wheel openings look proportional. I went with the 17's because of price and weight for auto-x. EDIT: nevermind, found more: -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Looks good. I can see you were going for functionality over style but they still look tasteful. How do they handle?
I've been looking on TR and found some neat stuff. So far I'm loving the BBS SR 18x8s, but they're heavy at 24.7lbs each. Two Enkeis 18x8s (GT7 & M52) look sharp, MSW Type 85s 17x7 are the best value and OZ Alleggerita HLT/Superturismo LMs are the best of both worlds. Drop dead gorgeous and super lightweight but the price is a tad unreasonable. -------------------- Hopes and dreams, ways and means

Weight isn't a killer unless you're trying to do something competitive. Sure, you want to shy away from 35lb wheels, but a heavier wheel a lot of times will hold up to potholes and abuse better than the lighter wheels.

Performance will always be a priority for me, weather it's in a competitive setting or not. It'd be difficult for me to accept paying 1k+ for something that'll actually slow me down. However, I'm in love with the BBS SR wheels and I could stomach the price even despite their weight. The road quality in my area often boarders on horrendous so I'd appreciate a stronger design as well. The OZ wheels are under a lb/in and that's fantastic, but if they're made of tin foil they won't last a day, plus the price is nuts at $431 each.
Beyond that I'd have to pair them up with good tires too. The total of both may peak 2k, more than a quarter the price I paid for the entire car. It's a tough call to say the least. EDIT: Would I need any special kit like centric rings, spacers, etc? This post has been edited by Plain Jane: Dec 26 2014, 10:55 AM -------------------- Hopes and dreams, ways and means

Odd. . . I thought I posted in this topic the other day, but I must not have hit submit?
Anyways, my vote would be to stick with a 17" or 18" wheel. The Elantra's stock alloys are 17" so I wouldn't go lower than that personally. I went with 17" Konig Crown's from Discount Tire and absolutely love them. With the style of the wheel I think 17" was a great size to go with. -------------------- Please consider helping keep the club online and independent. Donate here to help the club.

Great. 18x8 would be ideal and that's more or less what I'm shooting for. I haven't had an opportunity to weigh my stock 16" steel wheels, but the 15s on my last car were 19lbs so figure I'm looking at between 20 and 21 lbs for the OEMs. The 17lb OZ models coupled with aggressive tires should make for a huge improvement in handling dynamics, less so with the BBSs (@ 24.7lbs each).
How would that affect my speedo with a +2 wheel size? -------------------- Hopes and dreams, ways and means

aS LONG AS YOU use the correct tire size, it won't affect it at all. Correct plus size from the 17 is a 215/40/18. 215/45/17, 205/55/16 etc...

The BBS wheels are recommended with 225/40/18 tires and the same for the OZs.
