I bought my Elantra Touring SE back in April. It has about 13K miles on it.
Twice within the last couple months I managed to drain my batter completely and required a jump start after I spent about 20 mins sitting on a parking lot with my engine turned off and my lights and stereo on. Does it mean they put lousy batteries into new cars and I need to replace it with a better one? Or is this a sign of something more serious? I also noticed something else which is probably unrelated. I have a flash plugged into the USB port. Sometimes I would have my radio on and it would suddenly switch to the USB without me pressing any buttons. If I switch back, it jumps to USB again. It does not always happen but every time it starts happening I have to pull the flash out. I think it started happening right when it got colder but this might a coincidence. I tried another flash and it happened to that flash too. Does this mean my stereo is up for (warranty) repair? Thanks! -------------------- A proud member of the club.

QUOTE Does it mean they put lousy batteries into new cars and I need to replace it with a better one? Or is this a sign of something more serious? Probably a electricity leak somewhere.... Or the battery is bad. QUOTE Does this mean my stereo is up for (warranty) repair? I would put file a claim at a hyundai dealership. It either needs a software flash or it needs to be replaced. I wonder if it is replaced, if it would fix the issue you listed above..... You have a warranty.... I'd use it. -------------------- |

Definitely take it in to the dealer as vinnie said. The battery and radio are covered by the warranty. My battery went bad after one year and got replaced for free. Sometimes batteries ate defective. But my replacent lasted over 5 years and was still working but I replaced it just to be safe for ny winters.

As much as it sucks to have to go and wait for them to take care of it, I agree with these guys. That's what your warranty is for. Use it while you can.
