The Elantra and I will be heading off Friday 28th afternoon around 3:30pm and heading up towards Kerang. I'll be leaving civilization for the weekend some would say. No cable or broadband internet! Back to good old 56k. But I won’t be online.
I'm not heading interstate, but it will be pretty close to it. The last time I headed up this way was close to 2 years ago. Although I caught a train up there... Boy was that painful. The lady next to me actually brought her family photo album with her!! Oh the pain!
This time the Elantra and I will be cruising up on mostly highways with a speed limit of 110km/h ... Cruise control will be a real creature comfort.
A little bit about Kerang, It's a country town, with a population of only a couple of thousand people. There is 7 Pubs in the main street, 1 Supermarket, 1 Gas station and a Target department store.
The friend I'm staying with lives a couple of kilometers out of town on a farm. Her drive way is something like a 1 kilometer stretch of dirt road - My baby Elantra is going to be dirty!
The worst part is that we're still in winter. I'll try to take some photos while I’m there and also sneak in a couple of shots with Ellie.
Below is a map of where I’ll be heading. Starting point Hoppers Crossing (civilization), Destination Kerang.
If by any chance there are some close by Aussie Elantra Club owners, get in touch!
Please excuse me, I've posted another massive post.

The other nite I cruzed into a macca's on my way home. I found a group of young Elantra owners, who I approached and told about our club.
They seemed quite interested, so I 'm hoping that they join.
I also told them that in the future we will plan the Great Aussie Elantra Meet and get to know other members.
As I said they seemed keen, hopefully they have joined by now?

Hey all,
I thought it would be a good idea for the Aussie owners to introduce themselves and show a few quick photo's of their Elantra.
Lets get to know eachother better and on a name basis.
Please keep on topic.

I'll start....
My name is Dean, I'm from Victoria, Werribee.
I own a 05' Elantra Elite, 5spd 4DR Sedan (Ebony Black)
A few additions / changes i've made are; Rear spoiler w/ brake light, Tinted windows and a JVC KD-G615 headunit
Here is my girl...
^ Parked at a lookout point on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria.
^ Parked infront of a very crappy Motel room I stayed at in Ocean Grove the other weekend.
^ The heart of my girl (nothing modified)
^ Before installation of the aftermarket Headunit
^ After installation of the headunit. Matches quite well with the blue cluster and sounds like a completely different sound system with the stock speakers.
^ oohh my latest mod... A spare steel wheel due to getting a nail in the tyre on my alloy.
Kirsty, Mark, Mike, Yellow, ElantraFX ... your turn ... hehe

Looks like Hyundai has dropped one of their best slogans, in my opinion the "Future Driven" campaign was one of the best i've seen from Hyundai.
We're now like the rest of the world... Drive Your Way... Sounds like a promotion slogan for a fast food drive-thru.
Even the Australian website is beginning to change once again...

Well i was bookd back into the dealer again today, so just an update if ppl 4got or didnt know....
6mths ago after complaining to the rep from sydney the dealer fixed a few problems they never wanted to fix, as well as damaging my car interior in places which they denied and accused me of it but the rep also made them replace.
One of the problems back then was that on most days i would go to start my car and the immobiliser light would flash, or not light up at all, when this happened the car would crank over but not start. They told me they replaced the key signal receptor.
However this lasted only a few months. lately i got sick of it so i rang them up and told them i wanted it fixed. I also told them that the check oil stoped working (i am 90%sure i blew the output to this when i installed my cruise controll, because hmaservice is not a 100% match to our aussie cars.
After them having my car for less than 2 hours i got a call saying that it was all fixed, i asked about the oil and engine light and he said that when they changed the receptor it would make it work (WRONG!!! he didnt know what he was talking about)
Anyway i went to get my car and the oil light wasnt working, the mechanic came out and didnt know what i was talking about so he checked some other cars on the lot, i told him that i have had the cluster out and checked all the bulbs and grounding/continuity of the pins, when i sed this he sed that i didnt plug the plug in correctly and i have pulled a pin out and damaged it i told him thats crap cause its been out a few times and im an electronics tech that works on car systems, i know what im doing.
Anyway, what he did was lifted my bonnet and removed the plug for the oil sensor and grounded it, what do ya know the light on the cluster Breifly workd. My car has a faulty oil pressure sensor. NOW WHY COULDNT THEY HAVE TESTED THAT BEFORE I PICKED MY CAR UP?!?!?!?!?!?
all he wanted to do was blame me for it. uurrgggghhhh!!!!!

G'day to everybody,
Well howdy people it has been quite some time since I made a post here, I just wanted to excuse my absence.. I have been having quite a fun time preparing my buns for easter (Hot X Buns that is)..
Work has been taking it out of me like nothing else, and I have neglected my mates far too long. Hopefully I will be back to my usual entertaining self in no time. Just to let you guys know that I will try to be here more regularly, and hopefully I have not been forgotten in my absence.
Kind Regards,
Mike

Ok so I just bought myself some floor mats and number plate covers today in supercheap auto.. My dad got himself a carpet dashboard top cover, to stop the glare and surface fading for his Pulsar SSS.. It fit perfectly and looks pretty good, and was only $40 and I saw there was one there for Elantra as well. I was wondering if anyone has one of these who could say whether they are any good or not?

My step dad works for GMH (General Motors Holden) and was up in Broome a couple of weeks ago testing the VE commodore mules and told me he he sighted Hyundai with quite a number of different cars.
Broome is a very hot place, from what i've heard Hyundai does a lot of its testing in heat down here in Australia.
He mentioned they were testing a convertable of some sort, a 4dr sedan and an SUV... With him not knowing much about Hyundai he wasn't able to take much notice of what they were testing...
My guess maybe the new Elantra and Santa Fe?
The Hyundai team were at a petrol station and seemed to be having a few problems with the convertable.
Just something interesting I thought.
I know pics would have been great, but got nothing.

I don't know how reliable this is, but the salesman I bought my Elantra off has informed me that Hyundai will no longer be stocking the Elantra Elite.
Only stocks left of the Elite are already in Australia. Hyundai Australia will continue to sell the Elantra GLS and FX version though.
I've got no chance of seeing another Black Elite sedan now.
Is the Elantra GT an unpopular find in the U.S. like it is in Australia?

Australia Day. Celebrate what's great.
Australia Day, January 26, is the biggest day of celebration in the country and is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.
On Australia Day we come together as a nation celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation.
It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.
What's great about Australia?
There are many great things about this country:
The people - The life savers on the beach and the farmers in the bush; the larrikins; our sporting heroes, artists and visionaries; the volunteers who dedicate their lives to others; the spirit of pulling together in hard times and achieving beyond expectation; the eminent Australians from all walks of life, the battlers and the ordinary Australians who are anything but ordinary.
Our land - Fragile yet enduring. Harsh and extreme, lush and bountiful-a continent like no other. Our ancient land offers boundless opportunity, sustains us and makes us who we are.
Our diversity - A nation of difference and unity. People from the city, the country, different nations and backgrounds; we are one people, living together. Through our diverse beliefs and experiences we learn from each other and grow together.
The indigenous cultures - The rich and resilient spirituality; the knowledge, art and history. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are part of Australia's identity and culture.
Our freedom and democracy - A society built on fundamental rights and responsibilities. Freedom of thought and expression. Participation in government and respect for and equality under the law.
A fair go for all - An enduring spirit of mateship and fairness. A compassionate society committed to access to employment, housing, health and education. Ours is a land of opportunity where we can do anything.
If you're hitting the roads today be careful, and remember double demerit points are in force.
Personally, I'm just going to a BBQ @ a mates place with a slab of Melbourne Bitter.
Is there any other way?
'ave a good one!

I know, I have been slack not getting on here as much as I should, but life has been pretty busy since my hubby left to go overseas again. Now if my memory serves me correctly we are supposed to be hitting Eden next weekend. We are down to the nitty gritty now, and basically I want to make sure that it is still going ahead.
If the NSW folks want to meet at my place on the morning and we head down in convoy then that is cool (I live right next to Heathcote road, which takes us down to the highway we need to hit going South). I may even make you a coffee and a bacon and egg roll if you are nice PM me if you want to come down for brekkie before we hit the road, if not then I will just head out on my own.
So as I said before I digressed, it is next weekend right?? Does anyone want me to book a camping ground, or motel or something?? I am thinking a camping ground will be ace, then we can make noise, and what not and not trash anything if we get a bit pissy.
Dean -- are you coordinating the Vic fellas?? Are you guys coming up in convoy from there?? What time are you leaving?? What time do you want to get there?? What actual day are we planning to meet?? Friday or Saturday?? I have no qualms leaving on Friday to secure a spot, and have a few brewskis.
Reply here guys and confirm, if you are coming along and what day we all want to meet. (And if you are a NSW dude, whether you want to meet at my place or not)
Look forward to hearing back from you all soon.
