So I'm thinking of picking up a sway bar (Damn you, Steve) and there are a lot of places in the states that have them cheaper than up here in Canada. Found one today with 45k miles on it for $60 + ~$30 shipping versus something in Canada with >60k miles for $105 (or so). There are other better deals, just haven't had time to call everyone yet.
Anyway - I was wondering if anyone knows if this item will get hit with a duty charge? And if so, is there any way to tell how much? Thanks for any help! -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Yeah - that's where I'm coming up with these prices from. There are a few in Canada but they're a lot pricier.

If you let UPS/Fedex handle the border's customs, they'll tack on a $45 brokerage fee to your shipping. Collect.
The best is to get it shipped to a US UPS depot across the border and go for a drive on a Saturday. Then you declare it, but because it's used they likely will not care. Sorry Marc... but it's good for you.
You'll likely get a pretty decent charge on the shipping - especially for the size. The place will likely declare the full value. Last week I ended up paying $21 on a $25 order through UPS... not fun, especially when the place also tacked on their own shipping price. Bigs has a point though, if you install it there you won't have to declare anything really. Though Yves seems to be the best idea other than just plannin on the extra money. Not that they would know what they're looking at, unless they read about it on here or really take the time to check. Although it's usually waived if you don't have a receipt, in my experience of buying a snowboard (cash transaction with an individual) in Niagara Falls, oh wait, that's coming into the US. D'oh!
If you ever make it down to Corning, NY (2 hours away from Buffalo) in the future I have one I'd gladly part with for dirt cheap, and we can use my mom's garage to install it. Rather, attempt to install it. It's already rusty on the surface, so they wouldn't know it wasn't originally on your car.
