Looks like dealerships in the S/SE part of the country are seeing these come in as there are some new vids on youtube:

I am personally put off with the styling of the new Elantra. The steering wheel looks like a metal butterfly with buttons, the instrument cluster looks like a pair of eyes from a cross-eyed cartoon character, front bumper looks like they were trying to mimic the face of a certain hero from the Transformers movies, I'm not a fan of the tail lights swept forward into the quarter panels, ditto for the swept headlights. HVAC, radio, and other controllers in the center cluster look like a confusing, jumbled disaster.

Of course, these are personal opinions. Maybe I am just a biased HD owner.

The car looks great.

smile.gif Roominess, exterior appearance, gauges more informative, roomy trunk, mileage, quiet.

sad.gif Complex climate control system, no tune dial on the radio, no standard spare tire

Overall, it was a very nice car. I would definately consider buying one.

So I'm not the only one who thought of Transformers when looking at the front of the car. tongue.gif

The front and the style of rims are the only things I don't like about it. Everything else, my HD told me it wants on itself. Damn cars talking to me again....

Every time he shut the door to the car it really got quiet.

It seems like a great car.

My only question is: Why did they use the same damn horn. I hate the horn in my car...it sucks! It's so inadequate when I have road rage and want to lean on the horn. I'd be better off bringing a bugle!

Do you know how it feels to flick someone off with that horn?!?

saw one in person yesterday getting gas. My former employer has a black one with 16" aluminum wheels. The car is even sharper in person. Makes the Sonata look like the homely chick at prom with no date.

Heh, to me the HD owners are the last to speak on styling as the HD just looked like a warmed over Carolla.

At least the MD has some more flair and personality to it. Still not likely to get one since its just sedan form, but much improved over the HD.

The new Elantra is a beauty. From the looks AND FEATURES it appears will leave well behind its entire segment: Corrolla, Civic, Sentra, Mazda3, Ford Fiesta and/or Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, etc, etc, as the best value for the money. The "fluidic concept" in design shows that obviously Hyundai keeps up the pace with the better car makers (you can look at the new Opel Astra) that use design as a game changer.
Moreover, they overhauled the engines, and the "NU" one being turbocharged calls for "a lot more fun to drive than the older model" type of situation... I will definitely get a new one next year, after they work the eventual kinks out. I don't think there's a car maker out there (selling on the US market) that can really compete against the Hyundai overall equation: warranty+price+value, no matter how hard they try lately. Maybe only VW with the new Jetta may come close...
