Mitch, is there an easy way that you could set up a mobile version of the site? I have an Android phone now and sometimes want to browse EC on it.
Don't worry about it if it will be hard, but I figure that the forum software might make it easy? Thanks, Tom -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Does the "Lo-fi" version work? I've set it up so you can post from there.
And no, it would not be easy. -------------------- |

Thanks Mitch, the Lo Fi version is good.
The full site works fine on my Droid, but I was spoiled by some other forums that have mobile versions that automatically load and are easier to navigate on a small device. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

WebOS is nice, but I've always been a Linux guy, and love and use Google for everything. Android was the easy choice for me.
I'll take both of these over locked down Apple products though. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Okay, here are my two cents:
Right now, I am using my mobile phone (a Nokia Nuron 5230) to make this entry. I downloaded the Opera Mini browser, which, for the most part, works better than my phone's default browser. ADVANTAGES: it's convenient (I can post from bed if I want -- which I'm doing right now), pages load quickly (Opera has great compression technology), I can be logged in from my phone and my PC simultaneously, and I can switch between "standard view" and "mobile view". DISADVANTAGES (at least, on my phone): The "mobile view" is a mess ("standard view", which I'm using now, works better, but only in landscape), the "My Assistant" feature doesn't work very well (could be an inconvenience if you get a lot of PMs), no pop-ups, and no Flash (which means no videos). Still, I think what I see here has great potential praticality. EDIT -- The "mobile view" mess is in the headers, and can be confusing. But the posts are easier to read. Just have to scroll a bit more... -------------------- Visit my movie blog, ATTACK OF THE RED ENVELOPES

Still getting used to the new phone here.
The default browser the phone comes with isn't really all that great. The print is impossible to read, unless I double-tap the screen. At least with Opera Mini, I don't have to worry about that. -------------------- Visit my movie blog, ATTACK OF THE RED ENVELOPES

Opera mini is great - though it may just be my BB (Curve 8330) but it's rather sluggish moving around.
One thing I did notice is that the lo-fi version didn't seem to have a messenger area to get to. Maybe I just over looked it. It's rare that I need to be on EC when no computer is around, but helpful to read new messages that pop in. -------------------- carPC Build Thread | My Elantra Site | My Fiero Site | My WebSite | Donate here to keep ElantraClub online and growing. |
