Really, I don't normally have this sort of problem with VCRs, trialthlon watches, etc.
But the clock on the stock Hyundai radio/Cd player has me totally stumped. (Car's an 02 EGT, premium package).

All I wanna do is reset the hour (which is an hour slow since we went to daylight savings time), because it looks goofy with the dash clock showing the right time. I haven't had to do this before because I bought the car last October.

I've tried all the sensible button combos to no avail. And the car's handbook is useless because the stereo shown in it bears no resemblance whatever to what's in my car.

Anybody have an idea?

thanks, you'll keep me out of the nuthouse.

I've changed the clock before and I don't remember it being difficult. Even my girlfriend changed it... hehe. She is smart, but not particularly technically inclined. (Love you honey..) Anyway, I suggest you push the buttons harder (deeper) with something sharp.

cobas --

Push which buttons deeper?

Silet --

Hm. I may have to add a photo to clarify:

Maybe it was the stereo that came with the premium package, I dunno.
Pushing the DISP button chanes from radio/CD info to time

thanks rb

i'll bet bing is in canada or overseas....... that is not the US spec stock unit. also, bing's allusion to a "premium package" points to canada. no such option package exists in the US but does in canada.

btw, welcome to the club bing! is that info in your owner's manual?

Well guys, you're right about Canada.

Totally different dash on my 02 than Silet's.
The stereo in the owner's manual looks like that, so probably they use the same one for all North America. Seems like a weird variation to make, though.

Maybe it's because -- apparently -- Canadians like hatchbacks and Americans prefer sedans, which skews things for a lot of car manufacturers. Generally it seems hatchbacks get tested here before they get released in the States. If at all.

For what it's worth, what Hyundai called the "premium package" included leather interior, 4-wheel ABS, traction control system, trip computer, indigo-blue light speedo + tach., power sunroof, A/C (probably that's standard), and probably this mofo stereo with the impossible-to-change clock.

Helluvalotta car for what you pay, IMHO. So I'll put up with the clock.

cheers

Have you tried holding down any buttons for a few seconds?

I'd start trying that - beginning with the DISP button.

sometimes having the power off on the HU is the only way you can change the time, so try that and then holding dsp, or try mode and pressing up...hope you figure it out

Bing,

I'm going to help you. I have the same radio. It actually took me a few months to figure it out, and it's so counter-intuitive that I don't remember how to do it. But
I do have the book for the radio (it's separate from the car manual), and I'll look it up on my way to work tomorrow.

I'll get back to you on this !

Yves

Edit:
Alright, here it is: (da1tank wins ! for the closest guess)

1) Turn off radio
2) Press and hold "Disp" until clock flashes
3) Adjust using the tuning control arrows (above and below the mode button)
4) Press "Disp" or wait 5 seconds when done.
