Is this a wise move, defecting from my Saturn L to an Elantra?, Thinking of defecting from a 2000 Saturn L to Elantra....... Options

Here's the lowdown: I've got a 2000 Saturn L series (the bigger Saturn) I bought new and it nears 250,000 miles on the odometer, but its showing its age through wear and tear(heater broken, light bulbs burned out, etc.)

Its been really reliable to my family and has cost little to maintain, as I only run my steeds on synthetic oil.

The timing chain snapped several years ago, but thank God it happened in the parking lot at work, so I shut the engine down immediately, as I knew of this debacle by being an avid reader of www.saturnfans.com and while the timing chain snapped, it didn't destroy the engine whatsoever, such as the pistons, valves, etc. Had I been driving it, the engine would have been toast!

But the repairs are piling up, so its time to sadly bid her adieu/

I really like the 2016 Elantra, as it's affordable and comes with a great warranty.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is Hyundai good about honoring the warranty?

2. How reliable is your Elantra?

3. Are they high-mileage cars and what are the highest mileage ones, such as how many miles on the odometer?

4. Is this comparable to my Saturn L, which until now has been reliable and satisfying?

5. I live in the salt belt in the Midwest. How are the Elantras in terms of rusting?

.......Either convince me or otherwise that this transition to the Elantra is a wise decision and will leave me happy as a lark, as I've been owning the Saturn L (no wonder GM killed Saturn, as they lasted so long and Greedy Motors couldn't sell you another of its vehicles, as Satty's lasted so long!)

Lastly, how reliable has your Elantra been for you?

I welcome any and all serious comments, as I need a new ride that will last my family for the next 10+ years or more.

A little late to the party. But I had my 2005 Elantra GT for 10 years and 129k miles. It had no rust on the paint and nor!al on the undercarraige but I was religious about washing it in winter. I would still have it but had an opportunity to upgarde to the 2015 Sonata. Also both my parents own Hyundais as well.
