approximately 10,000 automatics to 1 manual for the new elantras.

There are 251 manual transmission new Elantras on autotrader right now. I know Hyundai is doing well, but I seriously doubt that they made 251,000 Elantras in 2012.

Hey-Hyundai sold 186k Elantras in '11. I'm looking for '12 sales figures now.

Wow. If that was directed at Bob, that was worse than I thought. If to me, why not own up?

At the dealership yesterday, I was talking with the salesman and he said the ratio is approximately 10,000 automatics to 1 manual for the new elantras.

Amanda I think he may have exaggerated a bit. .0001% seems impossibly low.

I would believe that the fact that I used your quote would be fairly self expanatory.

I had to drive to the other side of Baltimore to find the nearest Elantra with a manual transmission.

Reading this thread makes me realize how rare it is to have a 2013 with a manual. I feel like a special snowflake!

But on a more serious note, I'm concerned that selling this car to a private party (if need be) will be difficult for this reason. As someone stated above, can you find a minivan with a manual tranny? This is a compact, practical car, not a sports car. I do worry if I'd be able to find a buyer of this car with a manual. Hopefully I'll have my job and the car until it's paid off, and then this will be a non-issue, but I always like to think about what I would do if sh*t hit the fan and I had to sell the car. (I wouldn't sell the S2000 in this scenario: it's paid off, has a lot of mileage, has some cosmetic imperfections that don't bother me, and is worth way more to me than to anyone else).

believe it to be the opposite.

the manuals get better gas mileage, lower cost of ownership - which makes them scarce.

...can you find a minivan with a manual tranny?

The only one I've ever heard of is the elusive 1989 Dodge Caravan, which came with a 2.5L TURBOCHARGED 5-SPEED on the floor! They hauled kids, groceries, and most importantly, ASS!!

How about the Mazda 5 minivan. They come in 5 and 6-speeds.

The first gen MPV came with a manual, so did the 91-93 Toyota Previa, Chevrolet Astro Van, Ford Aerostar..
