Hello everyone! Recently joined, had a 2004 Elantra but about a week ago I traded it in for a 2014 Elentra SE. Love the car! I joined to learn (DIY, mods, maintainance) and hang out with other folks that love their Elantras!

Does installing an after market Cat Back system void your warranty. Looking at installing one from JUN BL on my 2013 Limited. Thanks for the input.

I just bought a 2006 elantra gt.The timing belt broke and I bought it from them, they pulled the head and had 2 new valves put in. I got the car in pieces and im working on putting it back together. I have tried looking up info on the cvvt cams, I have a haynes manual but it doesnt cover the cvvt and how to get the cams into proper time. It also says that you need to have the lobes for cylinder no. One facing up (180 degrees from the cylinder head mating surface)
Im looking for some advice or pictires to help me so i know i have it all in time!
Thsnk you!

Hi guys, I am glad to become a member of this club. I have 2 questions at once , (the second one came while waiting to be validated);
My first question: These days I have purchased a Elantra 2012 GL automatic and I was a little disappointed when I didn't get the advertised mileage of 7.5 l/100km
for a city drive. It didn't go lower than 9.5 l/100km. I would like to ask for an advice how to improve the gas mileage with Elantra? I read somewhere that
putting acetone of about 1 oz. in 10 gallons gasoline (or 30 ml in 40 l gasoline) would improve the gas mileage for about 30%. Has anyone tried
this and is it safe to add acetone to the gasoline in the tank?
And, also please, give me your advice for my second question, which is - what's the best way to maintain my Elantra while in storage? I am planning to
put it in storage soon for 3-4 months; I was advised to disconnect the negative connector of the battery for the time it's been unused, so that the
battery doesn't discharge. If I go for this option, would it be harmful to the electronic gauges when I restart the car? Would it need a memory saver
to save the electronic set-ups? Another option is to start it once a week and keep it idle for 30 minutes, which would be a best option for me, but
would like to hear from you, anybody that had a similar experience. The third option is probably the most common, - to attach a trickle charger on the
battery, but it cannot be done in our building's parking area, because there are no outlets.
Please give me your suggestions and advises. I am not very mechanical , but would always do a lot of research and ask for help
before I find the right solution for the issues. Thanks very much.

Last week I traded in my BMW Z3 that I had for 17 years on a silver 2013 Elantra Limited with nav. It's been a blast to drive and compared to the Z3 is so quiet and very comfortable.

Hey guys, thanks for all the great info here!
I learned a lot and am still learning.
I own a 2013 pearl white Elantra GLS, and am looking to purchase the superdrift spoiler on ebay.
The seller (KDMseller) has it in the ceramic white RBC color. If any pearl white WJR owners have bought it and purchased it,
please give me some feedback on the difference in the white color, and if it really is noticeable.
If it isn't much of a problem, I am planning on purchasing it ASAP.
Your input will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and looking forward to learning more about my Elantra and how I can modify it to my personal taste!
**btw, I'm from Hawaii (if you're from Hawaii too, make some noise)!

Hey guys, used the forum a year or so ago for some technical help and came back because I'm on a new goal......max MPG out of my 01 GLS.... I bought my car for $500 w/ 144,000 3 years ago and other than a few parts battles here and there I cant bring myself to get rid of it and get something else so the new goal is to squeeze as many miles out of each tank I can....with starting this goal I was averaging 28-31mpg (90% highway), and I have raised it some....I travel 66 miles a day for work...
Little background, I was a product of the late model fox body mustangs and have worked on cars for a few years so I have all the tools and experience to do the work... the problem I'm finding is being behind the curve playing with a 13 yr old car is hard to find stuff so I want to tap into the knowledge bank you guys have on the late 2.0.....
Current work;
Its hot in Texas so the first steps I took were removing all the unnecessary plastics under the hood that help hold heat on the engine and of course the coolant line bypass on the throttle body. I removed the intake manifold and cleaned out a pound of gunk and then placed a separator on the pcv to pull the oil out of the vacuum line(found in the DIY zone). Changes the valve cover gasket and cleaned her up. I added CAI, changed plugs, added ngk wires and put a new coil pack on the car. I changed the timing belt and put a new AC compressor, last one was causing the car to struggle. Last tank of gas I averaged 35mpg.
The bad;
Im at 166k so she is getting old; I have a shutter that only occurs between 68-75 mph haven't checked just yet but think it may be wheel bearings or struts, has a hard time idling with a/c on (changed idle air cntrl valve no change), and now is cursed with the dreaded dead cat code P0422...
Thoughts (
please input)
Im ordering a header off ebay I found one for the 97-01 Tiburon, going to install the fouler technique on the second O2 to stay away from the cel, Inspectors never raise the hood to look here so long as the light is not on. I'm thinking about buying a cat back set for the 97 Tiburon and adjusting it to bolt up on my car, I want to use a regular muffler though I don't want it noticed(bumble bee) just efficient. Tiburon parts are my thought just because they are cheaper, my understanding is anything 97-01 should be usable on my car. Are there any bolt up resonator assy's that are mandrel bent 2.25 that I can buy?
I bought used underdrive pulleys for the pwr steering and water for $20 on ebay and want to buy the following crank pulley listed for a Tiburon, question is does/will it fit my 01'?
CRANK PULLEY ON EBAY CLICK? One of the best modifications on any car is aftermarket ignition.... I assume Accel, jasper, msd, crane, no one I can find ever made a generic coil or ignition box that can be installed on the Beta 2.0?
Throttle body, mine has seen its better days. is anyone out there still taking cores or rebuilding to the 58mm specs?
Thanks Guys.....more to come
Chad
Any input would be great

Hello and greetings from Poland (btw, is there anyone else from my part of the World here??? )
Proud to be new Elantra's owner since June this year
Unlike U.S. and some other countries, Elantra is more than rare to be seen on roads in central and western Europe...
Luckily, Hyundai keeps offering her, despite rather poor sale in the area where hatchbacks and saloons made by VW group rule...
However, other European Hyundai's models such as i10, i30 and i40 (i30 for us, Elantra GT for U.S. : are quite common in Europe...
Mileage done so far is 4000 km and love for this car is growing more and more each day!
Fell in love with this car in March 2013 (at first sight!) and was dreaming to get it one day...
Now, facelifted 2014 is even more attractive and it was worth keeping calm and waiting for 2014 production.
Anyway, just wanted to share my joy with you guys...
Best wishes
Martin

Hi everyone. I need to replace the section of fuel and evap line on my 2001 Elantra GLS that runs underneath the 4 clamps on the undercarriage. The line is rusting out underneath each clamp, already had the shop do my brake lines. I intend to cut the old lines on each end and flare them, and then insert a new 5 foot section of line, however I don't know what the diameter of the original line is. I do not want to use rubber line because of the location, I don't want to risk debris from the road cutting the line. I need the diameter so I can buy the right size of replacement alloy line. Does anyone know what size this line is? Thanks.

Hi everyone. First off I wish a belated Happy Canada Day and then a Happy Independence Day to all.
I found out about this forum a week ago, and i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out locating a certain part. I currently own a 2013 Elantra GT GLS, and i'm not too crazy about the antenna, my car looks like alfalfa. i've been looking around for a shark fin antenna i can use for AM/FM/SAT. i found one on ebay, but according to ebay's system, it's not compatible with my car, yet the title says so. not sure if i should trust ebay's system or the seller.
I've also gone to the dealership inquiring about said antenna, and they quoted me something like $350 including the harness. it doesn't make sense to me that i would have to replace the whole system, unless sat/nav is a completely different system.
this was the shark fin i was referring to earlier:

Hi! Just thought I'd drop in and say greetings on the forum. I've been driving my new baby for about 1200 miles so far and I'm in love with my car. I traded a 2 year old Prius for it (which was an outstanding vehicle) but this one is so much fun to drive.
I've been reading on the forum here about the spare tire kit I can buy. I'm a little confused as to whether I actually can fit the same tire I have on the car in that well and just get a full size 215 45r17...... I'm also confused on the lug nut. I read somewhere in here:) that if the lugs are on the 17" aluminum wheels and I have to put a steel wheel donut on, the lugs may not fit correctly? Ugh. How does a person know what to do?

Just signed up yesterday, so I guess I'm the newest member of the Elantra Club. But while I'm a new member, I'm most likely one of the oldest members at 66, and one of the longest Hyundai owners.
I bought my very 1st Hyundai, a 3 door hatchback Excel GLS way back in 1989. I traded that car for a Mazda pickup, then the pickup for a Tracker SUV. Then in 2003 I bought my wife for our anniversary a 2003 V-6 Sonata with all the packages. I traded in the Tracker for a 5 door 2005 Elantra GLS. In March I gave my son the 2005 Elantra with 112,000 miles on it so he would have a reliable car. I then purchased a 2014 Elantra Coupe.
I've wanted a sports coupe for more then 25 years. I took a good long look at the 2013 Coupe, but I really didn't like the rear end, nor the
interior all that much, and the 1.8 liter engine just didn't have enough "guts" for me to buy one. When I saw the pictures of the 2014 Coupe from the LA car show, I knew that it was the perfect car for me . I called my local dealer, and told them what I wanted. I waited more then two months for the car. Finally the dealer got a few in. I originally wanted Red, but when I saw the car in White, it was love at 1st sight.

im able to get myself a 05 Hyundai Elantra GT engine with 75,000 miles .......My question is will it fit in a 01 Hyundai Elantra GLS Engine bay, I think so. Also do I need to use the GT engine harness or will I be able to use the GLS engine harness.AFter first glance I noticed that the GT has a mass flow sensor and the GLS does not. That seems to me to be the only difference in the harness. Does anyone foresee any problems in the engine swap or has does this before in these cars. I have in other car makes and models.

Purchased my first new vehicle 2 weeks ago. I wanted a white sedan with tan interior, cruise control, and a 6-speed mtx. Sat in 6-8 cars before test driving and comparing the Mazda3 or Elantra. Elantra won out on color/price/availability. I've put 500 miles on her so far and have blued out the H emblems on the front and back. Here she is at the dealership.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Sean and I am a newbie here on the forums. Ive had my 2005 XD2 (Automatic) for about a year now (its my first car) and im looking at making it more of my own. I am a college student (Computer Science Major) so I have a tight budget. The only thing i have done to my car is install a full Kicker sound system and im looking to do more to my car in the performance department. Some of the mods im looking at doing are some coilovers, new wheels and a new intake/headers. Can anyone suggest some good parts that have great bang for buck. I have little experience with cars and i am eager to know more.

I only have one album with just a few pics of my car. Any suggestions? Help please. Thanks!

I just upgraded some stuff on my 2013 Elantra Limited, so I'm having fun as a car enthusiast on this website Elantra Club.
I just recently added a rear lip spoiler (pics coming soon) but the pics I have in my gallery are all just before adding the spoiler. The pics show my car with the new body kit, the surf roof rack, and tinted windows.
How do I get an image on here? I told you I'm new!

Joe here from Pittsburgh.
A few months back I bought a 2003 Elantra GLS after I wrecked my Honda Accord. My original plan was to just buy a cheap car that would hold me over for a little while I saved up some money to buy a new(er) car. It turns out that I really like this car, it has been better to me than I had expected. I'll probably hold on to this car until it dies, so I decided to join this club. As my car is 11 years old with 120K, I'm here more for "fixes" than "mods".
Looking forward to being an active member.

Hey Guys! I live just NE of Atlanta and just bought me one sweet whip 2 weeks ago, and joined this great forum as well.
I got a 2012 GLS w/ the PZEV with 39K miles and I am in love with this thing.
I have never owned a car with the manual shifter thingy in an automatic, which I find extremely cool. I do however hope it doesn't shorten the life of the tranny.
I do have a couple of questions, but I will seachem before I askem. I will try my best to be active and do my part.
If any of you have anything I might look out for or recommend that I upgrade now, please fire away.
Thanks
