I think it's the Winter mix. I have 3.5 years on my 2007 and the only thing that is really bad is the front dash board doesn't shine anymore. So I have to keep applying some product to it. I don't mind, just wish this wasn't the case for a "new" car sad.gif

Thats an oil pressure light, not an oil level light. How many miles are you going between changes???

I can go ~10K, if it's got full synthetic in it. The car has 250K miles on it. It's no longer under warranty. I've not had any major mechanical problems with the engine. And yes, I know oil is cheaper than metal. The foreign cars I've owned (76 VW Rabbit, 78 Toyota Celica, 88 Hyundai Excel, 80 Datsun 200SX, 84 BMW 325) that I've owned were all high mileage when they finally bit the dust or I sold them. I put every mile on both Hyundais that I've owned and treated them both the same.

Most of my miles have been highway/rural roads. I do drive some in city traffic (if you can call maneuvering in cities with populations of less than 10K people city traffic), and the very rare trip to the big city (100K pop).

I figure all the cars I've owned (except the American made two - Acckk!) were made on Wednesday. gleaming.gif

250K Miles & Counting

Once upon a time, I had a 1988 Excel (bought brand new off the dealer's lot, 0.5 miles on it).... The dealership's mechanics were amazed when I brought it in for recall work (in 1990) and it had over 60K miles on it. When the engine finally caught fire in 1992, it had almost 190K miles on it.

I just bought my 2011 Elantra GLS 5 days ago and I love it. I always owned Ford cars before so I am new to Hyundai and I hope I won't regret buying it!

I've had my elantra 05 fx hatch since new done 93000 kilometres, had 1 problem with fuel pump which was caused by bad serviceman.Drives like a dream every day. On big trips sitting on cruise control it give me 7 litres/100 kilometres which I think is fantastic.
Great club All the best regards to everyone.

On a run to bring back some take-out food with some friends, I went around a 270-degree cloverleaf ramp and the passenger in the back seat (very familiar with that cloverleaf) says "This is a Hyundai? An Elantra? Your car takes corners much better than mine," and I say "That was actually slow, I didn't want the food to spill," and my wife says "Yeah, he usually likes to take corners a lot faster, it's good you're wearing your seatbelt back there." The passenger says "You'd get sick taking that ramp like that in my car."

Does that make the 17x7" wheels, the low-profile 215-wide tires, the upgraded sway bar, newish struts and -1.5 degree camber bolts all worth it? ...kinda.

Oh, and her car is an '08 Elantra GLS. biggrin.gif Haha
125,000mi and still fun (and still 27mpg on my commute). I just bought new tires and all four fit side-by-side in the trunk, without folding the seats down. Man I do love hatchbacks...

Part of the reason, frankly, that I don't post much anymore is that my Elantra just runs and runs and runs. I think I just clicked past 65,000 miles and it's just a stick the key in and go kind of car. Except for a few minor dings, it looks pretty good too.

I've owned my '06 since new. The only things it needs right now are another windshield, cd player skips and I think the windshield wiper pump is out. I haven't really checked the pump yet, that's just a guess based on not hearing it when I engage the switch. It's got a few paint chips in it too. Over all it's been an impressive car.

The only complaint I have about my '05 is that the pedal and engine beg me to push it. I had a friend tell me the same thing about his late eighties Porsche. It could be psychological >.<

Hey-Wow! You've gotten your money's worth out of your car.
Why no headliner?
