Hey guys, i want to replace my front speakers (i'm still running off the oem's all around) bc the left front one is distorted like crazy so I'm looking for something decent to run off my kenwood mpv7019 head unit. I found two similar speakers on crutchfield but i need some advice on which one is better than the other since i'm not an audio expert.
Here's the link comparing both the speakers: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Np3EbKqjFd5/c...SG1641&x=31&y=4 Which one of the 2 would you buy and why? Thanks guys. -------------------- A proud member of the club. XD2 Sedan |

i would go with the kenwoods... only because im a one company kind of guy. when i had my sedan, i was running all alpine throughout and it sounded amazing!
before i even put subs in the car, my alpine system amazed people to see that i didnt have subs. -------------------- "Life without music is a big mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche QUOTE (rogerdavis87 @ Sep 28 2008, 09:07 PM) eww i can see your geek |

They will both give you about the same performance and sound, so it really wouldnt matter. I would not be surprised if those two speakers were even made by the same company.

Thanks guys, so what've I gathered is that they probably similar but that I should just go with the kenwoods for consistency.

I just installed those Kenwoods all the way around and am pretty happy with them.
I was only looking for better then stock and I got that. Agreed that these two speakers would have differences that only a dog could hear. If you are not in a rush wait around a little bit. In my old Civic I was able to get 4 Infinitys that should have been over $200, but b\c of closeout and sale I got them for $100...I wasn't so luckily this time around... I will warn you now....they are not going to install easily....Crutchfield will send you a mounting bracket that will require 'fabrication' to fit the stock opening. My passenger side has now developed a rattle and I know it is that damn bracket...plan on at least 1 hr per pair... -------------------- "Finish each day and be done with it. Farbrication as in drilling, etc? Hmmmmm, i wonder if there are any other mounting brackets out there that would flush right in? -------------------- A proud member of the club. XD2 Sedan |

The problem with the crtuchfield brackets is that they are some kind of universal bracket.
They do flush mount very nicely but in order for everything to go back together nicely, various plactic clips have to be trimmed and you might have to drill to get screw holes to line up...also the speakers mount with those zip-clips...those metal clips that slide over your surface and you screw through them...I'm not describing them well, but if you saw one... -------------------- "Finish each day and be done with it. I got a pair of Infinity 6012si speakers from etronics for about 60 + shipping a month or so ago.
that place seems the cheapest overall. http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=inf6012si The speakers come with a plastic bracket needed to make them fit, but it is a bit tricky to get them installed. Since they come with the bracket I don't know why Crutchfield also gives you brackets. Seems redundant to me. Anyway, with the Infinity plastic brackets the screws that hold the speaker to the bracket are too long and hit the door metal. I went the bull in a china closet route and busted out my bolt cutter to care of that problem. The proper way to deal with this is to get shorter screws. Either that or some people have used the old plastic speaker mounts. First they cut out the wires to original speaker and tossed it aside. Then they use the normal screws and big washers to hold the speakers in place. So overall you have a few options to getting them mounted. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

QUOTE (edge718 @ Aug 10 2006, 01:43 PM) These are the speakers i got. sorry for the late response this thread didnt come up in my new posts section. theyve been installed for about a week now and i havent fully cranked em but they still sound amazing! Install for a guy who has never done something like this took me about 30 minutes for the first door and that includes splicing the wires and running them inside the inner door panel. The second door took me about 20. -------------------- 2004 GLS A/T
