Anyone from Victoria may appricate this document I found while browsing.

Keep a close eye on your speedo while on the Princess Highway from Melbourne to Geelong. There will be new speed camera's operating on the In and Out bound lanes from Melbourne all the way to Geelong.

It has been mentioned that these camera's are only in there trial period and should be ready for the summer holidays.

Victorian Speed Camera Locations

Why list speed camera locations?
With the Victorian government recently reducing tolerance levels on speeding infringements, it got us to thinking just how accurate the Speedo is on the average car? To put it to the test, we purchased a Tom Tom Sat Nav and linked it to the Speedo of the company Kia, less than 12 months old and with only 12,000 k's on the clock. Predictably, the Speedo in the Kia was inaccurate by a whopping 9.8%, just under the 10% allowed by law. This helps explain why truck drivers persistently travel within a poofteenth of the company car's rear bumper - our speedo reads 100kph when we are really traveling at 89.7! Come trade in time, can we legitimately claim the car to have traveled less than 90,000 k's when the odo reads over 100?

But most alarmingly how do we explain to the authorities that their infringement system provides zero tolerance but they allow new vehicles to take to the road with wildly inaccurate Speedo's? Avoidance is the best strategy, so we are pleased to be able to provide a list of all known Victorian fixed speed camera locations. We would love to be able to provide listings for other States and Territories, so if you have some info that you can pass on please drop us a line.

Own a Tom Tom?
Owners of a Tom Tom Sat Nav system will quickly figure out how to make their trusty companion double as license sentry. Simply program each location as a "Point of Interest" (POI), set the alarm to sound only if this location in on your route and select the distance warning (we recommend 250 metres). Just for the record, we have no association with Tom Tom and paid full retail for our unit. We intend to write a comprehensive report on the Tom Tom in coming months, but can assure those thinking of purchasing one that it comes highly recommended by all the staffers at Unique Cars & Parts! For more info on the Tom Tom, you can visit their site at www.tomtom.com

Thanks for that info mate, I will have to have a look see and find out if I can find some for the Sydney crew aswell.. It's something that should never be over-looked...

Sure there's the argument that you shouldn't be speeding anyway, but everyone is guilty atleast once in there lives...

I think I did come across a list for New South Wales too.

If I find them, I'll post them in a new topic.

Cool thanks man
Seinster
hehe I was cruising a speed camera site a few days ago, and saw you registered there Dean. smile.gif
I haven't seen any mobile speed cameras in the last 3 months.
It's a shame I can't do any more high-speed runs on the princes highway, but I'm glad I got them in when I did.
Thankfully there's still heaps of B-roads for that though.
Although lately I've been taking it pretty easy, and trying to keep my speed sort-of legal...
When my speedo reads 110, I'm actually going 103, which is my 100km/h limit pace.
Thanks for posting, handy to have here.
elantraelite
Mark, wouldnt you love to know why I was registered there...

Going down the princess highway the other day, I was in the left lane. An early 90's Hyundai Sonata with P plates was in the emergency lane.

She pulling out infront of me, the Sonata blowing smoke from the exhuast with 4 BLONDE chicks in the car! I slowed down to 80km/h from doing 100km/h on cruise control.

That was all cool, until the 4 bitches decided to start throwing stuff out the windows hitting my car. Luckily no damage to the poor Elantra.

I got to boiling point by then, put the Elantra into 4th and floored it, she also floored it and wouldnt let me get past her. They were still throwing stuff out the window at my car and because of the cross breeze I was still copping it all.

So after all that I floored the Elantra again, but didnt realise I was doing 150 or 160 (I can't remember) I started to shit myself because they are installing those new speed cameras on the princess highway (oohh shit)

But they were still installing them at the time so I think I'm safe.

I reported the incident to the hoons hotline to cover myself. I called the Police and they said doing this should cover myself if a speeding fine does come. (oh god I hope not)

I don't drive like an idiot and only travel at speeds that I know I can control in the current road conditions, so please don't think im a hoon! hehe
Seinster
Damn, sounds like a nasty experience, glad you and the elantra came out of it unharmed. I know from experience when confronted by situations such as yours, panic and/or anger can set it, and it just becomes a reflex to push the pedal to the metal.
Good thinking on calling the hoon line.

One bad experience that come to mind, it involved a couple of f**kers in a VK commo, who for no reason that I know of, got out of their car at a red light with baseball bats @ 2am on Dandenong Road. They were yelling something and coming towards me. Luckily I had my VT-auto back then, and there was nobody behind me, so I threw it in reverse and planted it. They decided to go harass somebody else, and I reported it.
The roads can be a really dangerous place sometimes...

That's the best way to go.

Good thinking Mark, I wouldn't have thought to do something like that.

Don't get me started on VK and VL drivers. They should get a real car and learn how to drive something more than an shitty 3speed auto with a worn out hand-brake. rofl.gif

I'd love to see these idiots pull there stunts in a larger XD or XF Ford Falcon.

No offense to anyone driving the earlier Commodore's but most of them are trouble makers. unsure.gif

just a quick update... thats rather funny...

Ok who shot down the speed camera on the princess highway?? LOL

I'd give the bloke who did that a pat on the back, good work hahaha

Shouldn't that be Cricket Bats!!

I was born in Adelaide and used to live in Canberra (if you're wondering why this newbie Canadian is commenting about Australian sport...my dad works for Foriegn Affairs and I married a canadian girl after moving here with my family.)

I just realized that it doesn't actually say where I'm from on the side of the post. I just came across from Elantraxd and I am used to the way that forum looks.

It's just a sign that we have been around American's too much lol rofl.gif
