i currently have had my Elantra for 6 years now, and have been consistantly been told that nothing can be done to these cars without killing them. i Love my elantra it's the best car i've ever owned? So what can i do with it in regards to performance and style? if anything at all. and where do i start.
Welcome to the club.

Actually, much can be done to improve the looks and performance as well.

For looks, things like spoilers and body kits are readily available. So are custom grilles and interior parts like door sills and dash kits.

Performance wise don't expect huge gains but adding a free flow muffler and cold air intake help. Doing something like the throttle body coolant bypass helps. The most fun gains though are to the suspension. Swapping out the stock rear sway bar for the one from a Tiburon GT will transform this car!

Best cheap mods:
Handling: 03-08 Tiburon rear sway bar.
Speed: Wet nitrous kit. Best NA mod: 03-08 Tiburon manual 4.05fd transmission.
So can anything be done about the ugly green lighting in the interior?
Yes you can change the dash light color. This is the first one that came up but if you are willing to change the bulbs in the dash itself, then you can make it any color you want.
Depends with your taste. I would start with IHE upgrade for engine mods and for the suspension, lowering springs and a good set of wheels and tires.
Get a cold air intake like K&N, a good set of exhaust and header and a programmable ecu. Surely it would add 10 or more hp from stock.
I keep being told it cant be done. Something in regards to the electrical system. but I cant see how changing a bulb effects that. Im going to look into it.
