I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dex. I'll be taking delivery of a '13 Elantra GT in white with the black interior and the touch and go package in 3 days. This will be my first Hyundai as I have always had Japanese cars.
I'll try and post some pics when I pick it up on Thursday after work

Thanks everybody. I will add a few things to the car when I can re-coop some money. I know the first thing I am going to add is tint.

Always Step 1.) TINT!
Even though it's early, just wondering it you are going to do it yourself or have a shop do it?

Definitely tint!!! By the way... just saw you're from Harrisburg, you should definitely come out to the PA meet in the summer! (Kate hit him up with the details)

I'm definitely having a professional do it. There is a guy around here that does like every bodies car. I will have to set up an appointment with him.
I just ordered some mud flaps tonight. They should be in the day I pick up the car.
I'm down for a meet in the summer. I haven't been to a meet since I had my RSX type-s

Welcome!
I would like to tint my GT too, but haven't. I am too cheap to pay a professional and too clumsy to do it myself. I guess I will get around to it one day. You will have to post up some photos so we can see your new Ride...

Oh man, I wish I could go to this. But we are going on vacation at the end of the month to the Outer Banks. There needs to be a meet on the other side of the state too
I made my appointment to get the car tinted. He is extremely busy and it won't get done til April 11th

That's true about Carlisle show. I used to live 10-15 mins from the fairgrounds.
I get to pick up the car tomorrow after work and after I pick up the little guy from the bus stop. Kids keep on asking me when I'm getting the new car. They are excited.

It was dark by the time I got out of there, I'll take some pics this weekend and upload them on Sun, since I'll be going away.
There is a dealer sticker I have to take off
Alex2013GT
Mar 21 2013, 11:02 PM
^^^ I had one of those dealer stickers too. A real PITA to peel off as each letter was separate. I feel your pain
Kate, regarding the Carlisle show since you brought it up (and likely I wouldn't have time to make it anyways), but my wife's best friend is getting married in May. So we are going to be up in the West Chester area for a few days and the date was going back and forth between two weekends. Unfortunately it ended up being on the 25th, so the Carlisle show is a no go.
It would've been awesome if we could've gotten up there the same weekend as the show and been able to check it out a little!

I work in Downingtown over the summer hahah at Paradise Farms Camp.
I'm from Berwyn/Paoli area right near King of Prussia Mall (I'm going to Virginia Tech right now though)

I might plasti-dip the front grill
Sticker that needs to go when it gets warmer out
I'm also debating about debadging it too.
I'm very happy with the new car. I have almost 300 miles on it already. I can't wait til my mud flaps get delivered also.
I'm also wondering about the DRL. On my stalk, it has DRL off -> parking lights -> headlights. What is the setting for DRL?

Plastidip and debadge. I'd also highly recommend putting a black tint over those lower rear reflectors. I love when those are blacked out (but to each their own)

I don't believe you have automatic DRL's unless you have the auto headlights which come with the tech package. I know i have them, but I just leave my stalk set to "Auto." I think if you turn the stalk to "parking lights" than the DRL's will be on along with the parking lamps.

Thanks. I just have the Touch and Go Pkg. It's really no big deal. I was just wondering.

Hey-They're easy to install using a very short screwdriver. I turned the front wheels out of the way to do those.

I read all you have to do is just remove the old screws and replace them with the new screws that came with it. I have an right angle attachment for my drill, so it shouldn't take too long to do.
Thanks for the quick tip

Mud flaps came in today. Car needs washed before I can put them on. I don't want dirt under the mud flaps. My cargo net should be getting delivered tomorrow also

Hey-I installed the cargo net also. You will have to drill out a couple of the holes to accept the slightly larger net holders. The instructions for all Hyundai accessories are very thorough to make the install easy.

Thanks! I didn't know there was instructions to it. I thought all I had to do was just attach everything. That's good to know.

Hey-the net attaches to four holders that go where existing plugs are located. I think two need to be enlarged but it's been a while so I'm not absolutely sure. I use the net all the time.

Sounds good. Should be a quick and easy install. I put some stuff in the trunk the other day. I didn't tell my wife and she drove the car. I went to retrieve the items and it was scattered all over the trunk

Hey-Been there, done that. lol. I also got the cargo tray, which covers the floor and attaches to the back of the rear seat, so when that's folded, it's also protected. The tray keeps things from sliding around and traps water, etc, if there's a spill.

Installed the cargo net today. What ever you do, don't drop the screw behind the panel. I had to take the rear apart to find that screw.
Also installed the mud flaps and debadged the car

Haha, when I was installing my stereo and connecting the ground wire I dropped the screw behind the carpet/panel and and had to take the side apart to get to it too.

I'll take some pics tomorrow. I need to wash the car. I cheated and used a quick detailer around the area I was working on.
