I'll start with mine and I'll update this throughout the year...

Car: 2006 Subaru WRX STI
Class: STU
Club: SCCA Texas Region

Event #1:
5th out of 7 drivers
Overall PAX -- 44th out of 132 drivers
Notes: I felt like I improved through the slalom which is something I wanted to work on. The biggest thing I felt like I could've done better is to look even further ahead. I felt like I could've pushed the car a little harder through some of the high speed sweepers if only I had been looking ahead for my entry and exit points and the key cones along the way. I'm also braking a little too late coming off the fast straights and up to a slow corner. So I'll work on that for next time. I'll also be changing my car setup so it will be more softly sprung but with better damping and stiffer sway bars for next time.

Event #2: TBA

Thanks Bob, I think this thread could be useful for a lot of people to see how changes as a driver as well as changes to car setup can affect your results throughout a season.

4-22-01
Indy region SCCA points event #1, second event.

9 of 11. Overall Pax results when they get posted tomorrow.

Had 4 runs. 43.448 (1), 42.096 (1), 42.557, and 41.496(1) HAd I not clipped a cone on my last run I would have ended 5th. Car ran good. As evidenced by the cone clippage I pushe the car closer than ever and it payed off. Let me just say they no longer point and laugh at the all white Hyundai biggrin.gif

EDIT: PAX was 66/103. I was 11/22 in the Novice category. Looks like I dropped out of the top half. Gotta work on that.

Event #2
8th out of 10 drivers
Overall PAX -- 62nd out of 143 drivers
Times: 40.923 | 40.357+2 | 39.879 | 39.072 | 38.556
Notes: I'm still struggling with driving issues. This time I focused more on looking ahead and I think I did that pretty well. But as a side-effect I found myself underdriving the car and not coming quite as close to the cones. I improved with every run but I obviously have a lot of work to do because the top time in STU was 35.683 -- nearly 3 seconds faster than me. On the bright side, if I had competed in Novice I would've won by nearly 2 seconds. By the way, I'm still waiting on a couple more parts before I change the suspension. It'll be interesting to see how the change affects me for the next race.

The results from Sundays race in Ohio can be viewed here.

Here are my runs with the differential between me and the 7th place (final trophy place). I finished 8th of 20. 1st place had a time of 45.697.

50.26 / 50.175 / 50.143 / 49.28 Best run 49.28 -0.657

I have been really concentrating on my driving. I have been accomplishing basically what I wanted. After my 3rd run I thought I really didn't have any more to give and then I cut nearly a second off my time on my 4th run. Amazing. So I'm staying focus on the driving and not worrying about the minutia. Once I get within a second of the fastest, then I'll start worrying.

They still have not posted the results from last week.

BTW, the tires are working awesome and I expect that they will become far more grippy as they wear. Right now you can see the crown and the edge tread is normally not even touching the pavement (except in a turn of course). I also heard about some other tires by Bridgestone and Hankook that may put Azenis out of the autocross business unless they put out a 225 series 15"

My results posted HERE

Top 3 cars were in order: Corvair, GTI, Lancer Ralliart 2.4. Final result 8/10. Had I not tapped the last cone I would have been 5/10.

Finally posted the results for the first race. I finished 4th of 16. I was about 3 seconds off 1st and about .5 off 3rd. As I said before I am trying to concentrate of my driving and I felt as if I did that pretty well this race though the times don't indicate it since my fastest lap was my 2nd of 4 but I approached it right and maintain that approach throughout the race. My last lap would have been 54.8xx but for those 2 buckets.

See complete results here.

Milwaukee Region Event #1 (April 29th)
Complete Results: Here

STS 927, Paul Greif, 2006 Hyundai Elantra Black:
1st Heat: 70.616, 68.200, (67.543)
3rd Heat: 67.939, 69.761

PAX: 124th of 178

It was a very long day with 178 entries, and I think that I kinda gave up at the end. I really should have put my best times in for the last two, but the numbers don't lie. Anyway, I came in mid-pack for STS (12th of 20). The car was a LOT flatter with the K-sports, than it was last season with the stock struts.

Tire temps were about 10 degrees hotter on the inside of the fronts, than the middle or outside (115 inside, 106 middle, 105 outside). Therefore, I think that I can back off a little on the negative camber (currently -3 deg.). I don't think I am going to make the change though until I get some verifiable data with a probe-type pyrometer. Rear tires were good. I maintained tire pressure of 45psi front/40 psi rear (Azenis RT-615 205/50-15).

Blew out the rubber-baby-buggy-bumper on the passenger font lower spring perch. It'll probably hold for the season, but it sure is and indicator of what kind of strain auto-x can put on your suspension.

All my runs were clean. Of course this does mean that I wasn't aggressive enough. Overall, I am pleased, and am looking forward to doing better.

Side note: My car was co-driven. If you look at the complete results, you will also see it as #118. Jenny made major improvements, and ended the day with her fastest time. Normally she would be driving a 3.8L Cougar, but she says that she likes my car better. I just hope she doesn't want to drive my car every time now.

Detroit Region SCCA Opener

205 drivers

16 Drivers in STS

Finished 3rd of 16 winning a trophy. Was in first place going into the 4th and final run and ran my worst time in my 4th run. Missed 1st but .6 seconds and 2nd by .3 DAMN IT!!!

Just to reiterate...

Tib Struts and H&R Springs
NO front strut bar

Results will be posted whenever they feel like it.

This is the first time I have trophied in the Detroit Region. I'm very very happy about that. Again, I have been focusing on my driving anf all went exactly as planned....until the final run of course. The pressure to beat someone elses time was huge. I thought I had it mentally managed but obviously not. Oh well, all in all still a great day and a great showing for Hyundai. Got lots of applause when they announced my name and car.
