Just wondering what you all use to get the salt out of your carpets? .. if you call them carpets these days .... is there is something other than a $150 steam cleaner that does just as good a job?

I get it detailed in the spring. Inside and out for about 200 bucks.

I use BlueMagic carpet cleaner in the spring. But I also use rubber mats on top of the carpet so I only need to spot clean the salt.

We also just put rubber mats over the carpet one's in the winter time. That seems to be the easiest and cheapest thing to do.

Took me a minute to realize what you were asking. I was like why is there salt in the carpet.
One of many things I like about living where I do.

Yeah, I wish I lived wherever you do too! lol .... as for putting the winter mats on top of the regular ones, that doesn't help at all, the salt still creeps up the sides and under the seat. The only thing that will do is ruin my summer mats as well as the carpet.

This can be a pain in the ass, but I take the carpets right out of the car every spring and pressure wash then. It gets stuff out you didn't even know what there.

A little late to reply, but there is a product out there called "Salt Eraser". It is a spray foam that helps to break down the salt before you vacuum it up.

If you have the cash, Weathertech custom fitted floor mats are a brilliant choice too. They seriously reduce salt buildup on the sides of the carpet well.

I have 3 dogs.... so a steam cleaner in the house is pretty much a mandatory item.
