Hi... just wondering if any fellow Canadians have had any luck finding a proper dash kit for the 2007 Elantra.

It's been over 3 months since I bought my Elantra and me and my Car Audio guy have not had any luck finding a proper dash kit. The supplier first sent us the 2006 kit by mistake, then the 2007 kit which ended up not fitting since it was from the US (they are different than the Canadian ones) - no luck since.

I've checked eBay and all I can find is the US version (and why are they different anyway?).

The main goal here is to install a different head unit so I can plug in my ipod. So it's either a third-party unit or Hyundai Canada offering some kind of upgrade.

Thanks.

If it becomes an issue, just have the guy splice in... I mean it's nice to have the kit but it's also nice to have an aftermarket deck!

Hi Jabohn, I'm also struggling with the same problem you've had (3 years later from your original post!), was wondering how if you were able to solve it?

Hey Travis,

Are you having problems with the wiring or are you more looking for the surround pieces to mount the new stereo?

Have you checked out Crutchfield?
http://www.crutchfield.com/m_750/Car-Stere...on.html?tp=1385

Isn't the Canadian model stereo just a 1DIN slot to begin with? If so all you'd need is the wiring harness.

Have you stopped into Futureshop to see if they can get the Elantra wiring kit?

Or even direct to Scosche?

I'm having the same issues with my Australian model. The factory "single DIN" unit and pocket is a fair bit larger than a standard DIN size so by just swapping the deck you end up with big gaps around it.

As you can see from this photo, it's not the best look:

I bought this double DIN kit from the US thinking i'd only have to take off the two bits on the sides towards the bottom where the audio controls protrude on the US OEM stereo but it ended up being quite a different shape and it took a lot of work with the dremel to make it fit. I also had to buy a universal DIN pocket to fit in the bottom space.

It looks okay but it's definitely not perfect.

Would love to find a proper kit for the Canadian / Australian stereo but it just doesn't seem to exist.
