Bring on that 2.0 from the S2000. Nothing like a production engine pumping out 120bhp/liter. Is that you Ben in that picture? Honestly at this point there is a good chance a Hyundai will not be my next car. That is a few years away so I have plenty of time to think but definitely looking for something with more performance. A girl that works in my same building picked up a new STI recently and we've chatted about her car a couple times. I think I soil my pants every morning walking into work. Ohh and the car looks nice too. -------------------- Please consider helping keep the club online and independent. Donate here to help the club.

I like my "no replacement for displacement". BIG BLOCK BISHES! Nothing like a big block 572 to pull the moon out of orbit. Could you shoehorn that into a Kia? -------------------- Hopes and dreams, ways and means

Nothing like a big block 572 to pull the moon out of orbit. Could you shoehorn that into a Kia? I'm sure it could be done. This guy crammed a 10L Russian radial engine into a Goggomobil, which is a 1950's microcar that weighs less than 1000lb and its' wheelbase is shorter than I am tall. -Roy -------------------- |

Ohh and the car looks nice too. There's no way I'd buy a Subaru for a long term Daily Driver right now. They are just having too many issues with their engines to be reliable. I know 3 different people with popped motors in less than 12k miles on new STi's. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

10.125 @ 220.18. Just goes to show you what man is capable of when there's more money then sense involved lol. VW managed to put their W12 motor in a Golf a few years back, and this English guy put a 27L Spitfire V12 engine in a road car and called it The Beast.
The Beast Any chance those premature failures are due to ignoring the break-in period and skipping straight to hoonery? I'd probably blow up a new STi too if I was fortunate enough to own one. -------------------- Hopes and dreams, ways and means

On two of them, it was motor failure. Both gentlemen in their 40's. Both followed the strict breakin and maintenance schedule. Both denied by SoA as "abuse". Not even an exhaust on either one. Unfortunately, the 2.5's are junk. Much like the older 5-spd manuals were made from paper machete and glass. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Well that sucks. I guess the more power you run through something, the quicker it'll fail. My '86 Bonnevile 3.8 carb makes 110hp and is as solid as a rock. About as fast too.

the koup looked nice, but was always the jokr of the crowd... velosters get more respect... from these local yokel parking lot meets its not so much the power but the style and driver.. the two koup owners i met... one was uberdouchen, the other was a dumb blond ditzophrenic. i wouldnt drive the xivic just to distance myself from the owners stigma... 8th gen kids are 80% dbags.. even tho i loved driving the mugen kitted one at the dealership... a new exhaust note goes a long way. i think if a shop makes the necessary goods for the transplant into the elantra.... i might be a future owner of the new style... looks great. As a Koup owner, I think you need to go and meet some more, lol. On paper the the Koup (first gen sx) slots right between the Civic and Civic SI coupes (as well as RSX and RSX typeS) but, as Bob pointed out, the engine characteristics are much more desirable (much better torque and curve). The car also ties/beats the Scion TC (depending on where you look) but overall quality wise that car is a mess. As far as Velosters go, I have no idea why they would get more respect. The only ones that can be considered "quick" are the turbos, and those are within a tenth or two of the Koups specs. Yes, they have more power but Hyundai geared them for economy. If Hyundai really wanted to go after the hot hatches, they should revise the gearing on the 1.6T (at least in R spec) to be more performance oriented. -------------------- QUOTE (Veloster.org) - MTD - "As long TCS is defeatable like in the current Genesis, I dont have a problem with it." - GreyGhost12 "Anything is "defeatable" with a set of snips... The one big advantage of the Turbo cars is the amount of power from a tune. The 2.4 see's about 11hp and 9ft-lbsof torque with a better redline (7400 over the stock 6700). The 1.6T's see 51hp and 44ft-lbs with a tune only. Add exhaust and intake and its putting down 235hp at the front wheels. AT THE WHEELS. I'd kill for that much power!

Mmm, true true. I was thinking stock for stock; once you don't care about warranty/reliability/cost/etc things can get interesting real fast. This disparity made me wonder how the Civic SI responds to a tune. If you don't trust the manufacturers (and I don't), it seems the Hondata reflash is good for about 2 HP 0TQ (per dyno runs before/after from a forum member). At least we get something more than that!

the 1.6T manuals also get a bump in RPM (7000 to 7200)
i am probably not going to tune my VT. seems just fine the way it is... almost too much for a FWD autox car. -------------------- 2014 Veloster Turbo - racecar
