ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ i30 Based Audio/Electrical _ My first problem with my GT

Posted by: Alex2013GT Jan 3 2013, 09:43 PM

Well today after work I started my car and ohmy.gif there was a horizontal line across my radio/navigation screen (that's not supposed to be there)! I've read a couple other folks having a similar issue. Looks like a visit to the dealership is in my future!

Hey-Did you try zooming out? Just kidding. I've not had that happen on my GT. In fact nothing has cropped up in the near 6 months I've owned it.

At least you have a nav unit. Why, back in my day, we were lucky to get an optional sextant!

Hopefully they can fix it quick under warranty.

Better it pop up now than later when the warrantee falls off the radio, but still sorry to hear that you had a problem.

Yep sure glad it did it now and not a few years down the road.

Paul, that just made my night. I'm cracking up here. laugh.gif

On a positive note, you may end up with a newer map version if they have to replace the entire unit. This is one thing that scares me about the warranty, the whole car is covered for 5 years except the electronics which is only 3. Good luck, let us know what they end up doing for you.

Yea I'll let everyone know the outcome. I haven't called the dealer yet and don't know when I'll get it in there. My work schedule will be pretty crazy over the next couple months. sad.gif

Part of me wants to wait to get newer maps anyways! biggrin.gif

Hey-my ten year old car has nav, & maps are updated with new CDs. I thought newer nav units are updated via satellite.

I know they can be updated, but I think it might cost money? I haven't looked into how they are updated yet though.

Alright Alex, you're up against two week mark, did you get up to HoG yet?

Posted by: Alex2013GT Jan 19 2013, 09:45 AM

Nope, unfortunately working through a real tight deadline right now. And I will be down in Atlanta for a few days next week. Sometimes I don't know why I keep doing what I do. huh.gif
