Two days after sitting in the garage, the satellite radio is working. I suppose it could be the shark fin antenna. It possibly got moisture inside and it evaporated? I'm going to the dealership in the morning to have it checked out. I searched around the Web and found that several Hyundai models have had problems with water/moisture getting inside the antenna housing.
My car has never been through a car wash. I hand wash it, however, it has been through a few monsoons. I hope this doesn't become a recurring problem. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

The service advisor said that since the radio is working, they can't troubleshoot the problem. I asked about checking the antenna for evidence of water/moisture and I was told to wait until it quits working again. Hopefully, that will be a long time.

Yes lets hope so!
However i have taken my car through the car wash many times, never done by hand and i have also been through many monsoons. I am more inclined to think it could be the slightest of shorts somewhere, but then again i could be wrong. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Recently, the HVAC motor has started to make noise. It sounds as if it is out of balance or the bushings are worn. What's strange is that when turning right, the noise becomes louder and when turning left, the noise goes away. It is very frustrating. Even when listening to the radio, I can hear it , ever so subtly, squeaking away. Does anyone know if this is a common problem? I tried searching around and haven't found much. Is this easily fixed on these cars?

Wish i could add some insight but seeing as how my HVAC is only used 3-4 months per year i am very unlikely to see an issue like this. I am guessing you must use it quite a lot, it's unfortunate that it seems like it will be an more serious issue sometime soon.
On the flip side i have recently crossed 182k+ kms (113k+ miles) and i am still without a single issue, i could not be more pleased. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Sounds more like a wheel bearing problem than a Hvac motor problem But, if it is the Hvac motor then they are fairly easy to replace -------------------- Working hard, living proud

Definitely not a wheel bearing. The sound goes away when I turn the fan off or increase the fan speed.

The blower motor is fairly easy to replace.
It looks like a squirrel cage. If the noise doesn't bother you yet then just live with it until it does Fixing a hard failure feels better than replacing something that just makes a little noise. Well, unless one is particular about that type of stuff. I am just cheap .. not lazy. -------------------- Working hard, living proud

I've got a 2011 Limited and I'm rounding out 97k on mine. 20k of which I compiled in the first month and a half.
I have since changed jobs a couple of times moving closer and closer to home. Now I carpool and only drive once every 3 weeks, so the miles are staying way lower than before. I'm glad I saw this thread though, because I have had that check engine light on for some time now with that code (I used my own OBD reader). I didn't know it was a malfunction... I'll make sure and get the car in for the warranty coverage before I hit the 100k mark. I did have a problem with my radio about a year or two ago. I had the same thing... the navigation was working fine, but I wasn't getting any sound out of the speakers. The radio was getting reception, my aux inputs were all working. So, I took the dash apart... pulled the unit out, unplugged everything, blew it off like an old Nintendo game, and plugged it all back in. I haven't had any issues with it since. The only annoyance at this point is what I think is a loose heat shield or something. My car makes this metallic pan rattling noise on cold starts... and then goes away once the car warms up. Anyone else heard this? -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I also had this metallic rattling sound on my 2011 Limited and it was a loose heat shield. It was however not at startup as you describe but during driving when i passed 1500-1700 rpms. There was a TSB to install clamps on the heat shield, this was the only TSB i requested for my car during the warranty period, which completely solved the issue.
My car has recently crossed 120k miles and remains trouble free. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

My son's 2005 Elantra just turned over 100,000 miles. The only problem after all these years is the driver's door handle broke off. It has had zero mechanical problems and he hopes to have it another 100,000 miles.
