Has anyone tried to put Sonata injectors in there Elantra motor?

What year Sonata fuel injectors will fit my 1999 4 cylinder Beta 2 motor? and are they worth changing to those injectors for ANY benefit?

there is no real reason to change out your factory injectors, unless you are a built NA or turbocharging your car.

if you do, be advised about running rich, seeing smoke from the tailpipe, and horrible performance / gas mileage. the factory injectors are not anywhere near their max duty cycle.

I'm just getting started still technically......but I do have a upgraded forced air intake (Custom hand made fiberglass hood), I've fully rebuilt my exhaust from the down pipe back (made a custom bend to hold back pressure and I have a glass pack to soften noise)

For a more detailed reasoning I was planning to remap my ECU after adding a aftermarket fuel pump and fuel rail. So I suppose I could modify my question as, should I buy aftermarket fuel injectors or will the Sonata injectors serve the same purpose?

To answer your question you want the 290cc one out of the 2.4l theda motor. It does come in the sonata. With out a tune or standalone it worthless. I only know of one company the flashes the ecu. Are you planning on a turbo or supercharger of the car?

you're atleast doing good things.

i wouldn't worry about the injectors until you had at the very least some head work, a nice cam and a custom intake manifold / throttlebody.

port the throttle body to 58mm, port the intake manifold and install underdrive pulleys before any other modifications to the fuel system. they are a great source of power and are cheaper than the fuel tuner + injector swap. the XD's run extremely rich from the factory.

FWIW, i run full-bolt ons + nitrous and am still on the stock injectors. ive put almost 100hp worth of nitrous thru this motor on the stock injectors and that is when it finally started to run out of fuel. the fuel pump is more of an issue than the injectors are.

You've got a Beta 1. The stock injectors are adequate for NA, they're bigger than the Beta 2 injectors btw.

I'm going to say that the best NA mod for the money is:
1.8 intake camshaft. From 1996-1998 Elantra. i8acobra dyno tested it before and after installation, 4-5 hp gain.

What would the gains be if you had a set of 1.8 cams and had them reground? I picked up a set for free biggrin.gif

Hard to say exactly. Just install the cam. 5hp for free is better than 10hp (or so) for $500.
Just install the 1.8 intake camshaft. The 1.8 and 2.0 exhaust cams are identical so no reason to swap.

2.0 intake cam 228 duration
1.8 intake cam 232 duration
1.8/2.0 exhaust cam 240 duration

As you can see the exhaust cams have a longer duration. You can modify it to fit on the intake side. Drill and install a cam sensor dowel and cut off the end for clearance. There are also a few people with Beta 2 non cvvt engines running two beta 1 exhaust cams. This requires shimming the solid lifters to run.
