Hello Everybody,
New to the forum. I have a 2012 Elantra LTD which has the larger rims and low profile tires. I love this car, but it has one problem. When you hit bumps in the corner or on a strait away it hops and has a pretty noticeable sway. The jolt can be pretty harsh. I'm betting the struts should go first. Any recommendations on replacements? I also have been told that the '03 Tiburon rear sway bar is an option. However the dealer told me it wouldn't fit. What is the best way to go. I love the car and in the corners it is a fun drive, just until you hit a bump! I am about to pay it off so I am willing to spend a few bucks to solve, or reduce the problem. Sorry if this is already posted elsewhere, just couldn't find it! Rick -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Welcome to the club, And no the 03 tibby bar will not fit the car. Two complete different chassis. This is the biggest complaint about the car. Get a set of kyb shocks for the rear and lowering springs. Then replace the rear sway bar with a whiteline 22mm bar and you should be good. Thank you for going vip, It helps keep the club going strong.

Ok, going to look at the KYB's. Dumb Q, you're talking lowering springs on all four, right? What about my front struts? these potholes in the NE are killing me!
I will put the bar on also. I'll post some thoughts and pics when I get her off the lift! Rick bro5mo = seven kids, only brother, first two of last name... -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Yep all 4 corners, the rear is the weak point. Very easy to change on the car. I believe Megan racing and Ark has a set of springs for the car.

Welcome to the club bro!
A lot (relatively speaking) have switched the rear shocks to KYB's and all I can recall hearing are positive reviews after doing so. This apparently cuts down substantially on the rear end "hop" when hitting bumps. You can certainly take it one step farther as Kyle mentioned and throw on some lowering springs, a rear sway bar, and if you have the stock tires, some upgraded rubber. -------------------- Please consider helping keep the club online and independent. I got mine for my 2011 Limited from rockauto. They still have them there for $64.09 each listed under 2011 Elantra but not under 2012-2014 years, fitment is the same.
Here is the link KYB Shocks -------------------- A proud member of the club.
