Hi

This site has a handy Map tab at the top. I'd like to encourage everyone to check it out and update it with your location. It's nice to see where everyone comes from and locate members in your area.

Only 2 of us in North Cackalacky?

I had my choice of 3 GT's when I went looking for one last November (all in Chapel Hill for some reason). Of course the other 2 owners were a woman from Barcelona who had never changed the oil in the 3 years she owned the car (garage told her it looked OK!!) and an older gentleman who didn't seem like the forum type. I ended up buying mine from a dealer who had purchased it in auction from Virginia.

Actually, thinking about it I have only seen one other GT on the roads around here since I got mine.

Still, this forum is awesome. I need to get around to becoming a VIP because I would hate to lose this site.

Thanks for adding it. We're still over 6,000 members short. I know we have a ton of Canadian members and quite a few outside of N. America that really need to pin their tail location on the donkey... map.

I think Mitch wanted to say that there are a lot of Canadian members that joined the club but few of them have used the map!

I know some regulars here aren't even on there. Come on people!

A general location pin is better than none.... if you're not wanting to give a real pinpoint.

I hope more members place a pin. Sarge makes a great point. If you don't want to put you precise location for privacy reasons just pin your city.

I keep seeing some new members pop on by, but don't leave their mark/pin. It's a nifty little feature to show roughly where people are from in one look.

Yeah, I just marked my neighborhood in case everyone in Elantra club wants to have a bbq at my house. Didn't mark my house because I don't want jealous haters to egg my house. I live in a gated community so that also helps keep the haters out too.

I just marked my house. I'm not really worried about "haters" because well in my area we are a very small community and EVERYBODY owns guns.... PLus the nearest pin from me is like 200 miles last time I checked.

One thing to keep in mind is this is only accessible to members.

It lets me know that I really do live in the middle of nowhere... I never really thought about that. Only member can access it. Anyways there really isn't that many markers on the map.

Not at all. Probably only 1 in 200 members here have put themselves on the map.

Come on folks, this is a great way to figure out if there are any other club members nearby you... maybe you need help doing a timing belt or want to organize a meet; this is a fantastic way to know who to contact. All it takes is just a little time!

Yeah, Vinnie told me how and it's real simple. Here's what he said:

On the top, you'll see the blue elantra on the top left, under that you see "community" click that drop down and you will see "member map" click that.

Once in there, on the map you'll see... "map hybrid satellite" - above that is a arrow drop down - from there select your location.

I'm on. Looking for others from my area......

I've never understood why so few people add a pin. It's fun to do and easy as hell. It also is a pretty useful feature.

I found the map once, but couldn't figure out how to do it in less than 15 seconds, so I put it off until I found instructions sometime later.

Anyway, another obstacle would be if you don't want to show your exact address in such a public place. To fix this, I found a nearby park and said I live there.

Or put your location down as just your zip code, and not your actual location - I believe that works too.

I've mentioned that many times, just pin your general area. Maybe this time peope will actually try.

Now if we could even get a few people adding their location to their profile, that would be good too.

Yeah, I know there are some Pennsylvania people who aren't on there. If you're worried about putting your home address on there, you can always do what I did and pick a local landmark.

You're not. That the frustration here at EC. Few seem willing to take the few seconds to do little things like put their pin on the map.

Looks like there was a glitch in the map due to a server software change.

I reworked the code so everyone can add a marker again. Just follow the easy instructions on the My Marker page.
