Very awesome day at the track. I finished 2nd by .08 of a second....again. Last race I was 3rd by .07 DAMNIT!!!
Anyway, everyone was shocked by getting thier asses handed to them by a Hyundai. LOL
Spamcetera (larry) came by with his wife and son. I haven't seen him since about this time last year. Thanx for coming by Larry and there is another race that way in July and then again in August. I will get with you soon. You need to race yours. No excuse for a broken foot this time.
My wife also drove for the first time. It was a complicated track too. But after her first 2 laps, she got a lot better and finished very strong. She had a lot of fun and will kick some butt next time. Maybe even mine. (never!!!!!!!!!! )
This Elantra really runs well. I can't wait until the KYB AGX adjustable strut are here in September. I think this car will be a real contender
Now if the driver could just be better we'd really have a combination.

Raced at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant MI. It was over a 2 hour drive to get there. It rained. However, the track was amazingly grippy. I'm not sure I would have had much improvement in times if it were dry. Hard to tell tho. Anyway, I took 3rd out of 8. Second place beat me by .070 seconds. DANMIT!!! 1st place spanked everyone. He beat my time by 3 seconds. He beat the best time in Street Prepared and had the 3rd best time in Street Mod and he is racing STS. DAMNIT!!! Plus he is an outstanding driver. DAMNIT!!!
Nice to come home with a trophy.

I to raced AutoX on sunday. I left after my last run because I was not feeling well and had to wait for the results to be Emailed to me. I received the Email results Yesterday evening and was surprised to see that I did better than I thought. I finished 4th out of nine in STS. The top four spots in STS were seperated by less then a second.
1. 51.745
2. 52.178
3. 52.585
4. 52.617-me
Fast time of the day came out of A stock by an 05 Evo MR at 47.826. It rained all day so grip wasn't the greatest and the AWD guys had a slight advantage. I have another race coming up on the 29th and the forcast for my area is calling for rain straight through the week and into the weekend. Maybe I should call up BSE and see if they could do an AWD conversion to the E machine for sunday. Sorry for no pics but it was to wet to take out the camera. Hopefully next time I can snap some for ya.

Another great day at the races. Here are a couple of pics from the DTE music theater parking lot. Huge course!!!
My fastest time was 42.053
The fastest for the class was 38something. My car needs a better driver I think. LOL
I need to get my foot out of the accelerator.
Dave (2loud) showed up. Cool guy! Thanx man. 4000watts pushing through his stereo. WOW!!!

For those interrested in sampling autocross there will be an Introduction to Solo II Event (Corel Center) - Sunday, May 15th, this is a non-points event that is organized mostly for the "new to the sport" types. If you want more information just head on over to the
MCO Webpage, read up about it in the SOLO II forum section. Looking forward to having other EGTs there also.

Raced today and finished 2nd out of 8 in STS
the person driving the #27 Evo is Mark Daddio. He is a SCCA national champ and this is his new SM Evo
Oh ya. No making fun of me because I have taped numbers on my windows. I woke up late and had to hurry up and pack and forgot them. I made it to the event just before reg. closed.

My new helmet arrived today. It is the Impact Racing Velocity helmet. Impact Racing is Bill Simpson's new company. My previous helmet was a Pyrotect open face helmet wich I sold to my friend who is starting his first season in autoX

from the archive:
It appears the Mitsubishi had been going to web sites like MyAutoEvents.com to see if customers are racing their cars and then denying them warranty service. Mitsu has offically denied this but many customers who own Evo's are complaining that their warranty claims have been denied for having participated in timed racing events. One guy threw 2 connecting rods shattering the inside of his motor and ruining his turbo to the tune of $8000. His warranty claim was denied because he had just run a SCCA Solo II event.
You can almost always just show up the the races and register that day. You can also do it by mail or phone. I highly doubt Hyundai feels the need for such antics but just to be safe, don't register online.

Wow does the car handle. you can see from the pic that the chassis is evenly loaded front and rear and i was in a small 4 wheel drift after having come out of that final turn. You can also see that the weight transfer from right to left is minimal. Just phenominal handling with this car now.
I don't know what the final standings were because I left before the event was over. There were 2 cars that had beaten me when I left. 1 was a sponsered neon with LSD and head work, with a stripped interior. The other was a 2004 Cavalier and i don't know what his mods were. The track was large as it was set up for Corvettes (Corvette Club Meet) so HP factors in a lot more. Track times were from 50 to 45 seconds for non street prepared and modified classes. My best was 48.551 and the best when i left for my class was 46.9 something. Some better driving skills on my part would definately help.
Now, if I could just get my head p/p'd adding 15-20hp, i think that would put me right at the top.

If you are racing this weekend then good luck and have fun.
Remember to look ahead and to use the brakes hard. That's why they're there.

Had the first points event of the season Yesterday. I ran in STS and finished 2nd out of 6 in a 5 run event. Here are my run times:
1. 47.021
2. 44.459
3. 43.014
4. 43.774
5. O/C
Fastest time in STS was 42.933 by a Mazdaspeed Protege.
Fastest time of the event was 42 flat by an Evo VIII that ran in SM.
It has been raining since Friday night and the course was very wet and very " technical ". I believe that combination really equaled out the cars and classes and made for a really competitive event. I did receive an award though. I was awarded the " cone killer of the event " award for taking out the most pylons and dragging them back with me when I had my off on my 5th run.
all in all it was a great day despite the rain and can't wait for the next race. Good luck to everyone else this season and have fun.

Ran the first autoX of the season today. It was a non points event " get back into shape" event. I finished the day 5th out of 9 in STS class wich isn't to bad considering that i ran the event with 195/60/15 snow tires on and about a 1/2 inch of sand all over the parking lot from winter. the coolest part of the day was the fun runs though. I got to take runs in 2 brand new lotus elises and also a turbo charged NSX. As cool and powerful as the NSX was it doen't compare to the lotus. that car is extremely quick and handles like it is on rails. Next event in 2 weeks and it is for points so i think i will change over to my autocross wheels and tires

So what would someone need to start autocrossing? Would a pure stock Elantra have a chance of competing? Any special equipment needed? Are there autocross driving schools?
