Looking good! Are you going to do anything about the area around the head unit?
Be sure to keep us posted!

The head unit area looks pretty good. I have black plexiglass around the head unit with the volt meter behind it.

Here is another pic

Which alternator is that? I know they have several models.
And why the pully? Did it come with the alt?

Just think you could put a major convertor in there and run your house when you have a outage. smile.gif
Or AC when ya go camping

Ken

I am using a DC Power 270XP. I have been working with DC Power now for +6 months on developing this alternator for this car. We had a bunch of issues but finally have it figured out thumbsup.gif

I am using an idler pulley because I was have belt slip issues due to not enough belt wrap around the alternator pulley. DC Power will be shipping this alternator for this car with an idler pulley thumbsup.gif The belt slip was not due to a loose belt. The 270XP is a beast of an alt and when it is under a load it takes alot of torque to turn. With the stock setup there just isnt enough belt wrap.

I'd love to know this as well.

The stock alt has trouble with just putting the damn lights on and even without the lights it can't power the stock HU correctly since the faster I go, the louder it gets.

Stock alt is a Valeo 90a@13.8v unit. Really inst enough power for what I am doing whistle.gif

Dc power alt about 260amps. Puts out about 14+volts at idle.

Oh and guys, This guy means business.

clap3.gif It is a 270XP. On average voltage is 14.7v. I am really surprised I havent fried the stock ECU yet unsure.gif I do get some nasty voltage spikes at 15.3v for a split second once in a while. My 3kwp doesnt handled clipped signals well nodno.gif (A few decaf tracks are clipped).

I wasn't too sure if anybody on this forum was going to be interested in my build. It looks like a few of you are Peace.gif I will keep you guys updated. I have hours upon hours of work yet to do until this build is complete.

FYI my system goal is to have a good sounding front soundstage that images well and a sub bass system that has the potential for +150db burps quote.gif

Here are a few more pics of whats going on takepicture.gif

I solder, crimp and use heat shrink and PET on my power runs

I ran my 1/0 + and - through the "frame rails" to the trunk. Here is the 1/0 runs entering the rails from the engine compartment

Some in process wiring pics

I solder and heat shrink everything including head unit connections (head unit ground is at battery)

I make my own RCA cables
