As much as I've enjoyed my GT, I'm thinking of jumping ship from Hyundai. Don't get me wrong, the car has served me well and I've never hadda prob with it... ever.
I just feel Hyundai car designs are getting... well... boring. The new 2006 Sonota is nice... but it looks too much like an Acura/Honda... and it looks like an "old man" kinda car. I've always liked the Tiburon... but my head makes contact with the ceiling often and me not like involuntary headbutting. Sante Fe and Tuscon are nice too... but they're SUVs. I'm leaning toward the following "affordable" cars as my next purchase: 2006 Ford Fusion - Even though it's a Ford... it's looks nice. 2006 Honda Civic - It's kinda stumpy looking but still nice And of course I'm saving up for a motorcycle. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Call me silly, but this is what I'd have if my wife would have allowed it.

Already did.
2005 Silverado and 2005 Malibu Maxx. No regrets at all. No issues with either to date. As my name implies I love torque and they both deliver on that end. The hatchback design of the Max has been priceless and the kids love it. The Silverado is usually the family vehicle since the whole family likes it the most. The extended cab with the rear doors is as easy to use as a car. Mileage for both has been acceptable with 23-30mpg with the Max and 15-20mpg with the Silverado. Hyundai was good to me but never ignited any passion like other cars I have owned. The Silverado I can't image life without. The Max I don't find very attractive but everytime I drive it I love it. The power, ride, handling, and features are exactly what we wanted in a car. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Last friday my girl bought a Mazda6, base 2.3L engine with 17" alloys... I'm looking forward to giving that a drive. If I had to do it all over again, right now, I'll admit to looking long and hard at the new base Civic coupe; that crazy swept-back windshield makes no sense but looks sweet.
Then again, I could never ever beat what I paid for my GT, and the thing still makes me very happy. -------------------- QUOTE(Cite 3) the cops lit us up, but then Cobas was like "what u suckas want?" and biker reached under his coat and the cops were like... "umm nevermind". |

When we got our Santa Fe I had never considered looking at a Hyundai but the price was right and the test drive sold my wife. When it came to my GT I was looking for a small inexspensive sporty car. I have been very happy with it in as it reminded me of my 86 VW GTI in a lot of ways. That said I see Hyundai moving in the same direction that VW did and that is away from it's customer base in the design of it's newer vehicle's. I feel like most of the newer designs I have seen so far have lost hyundai's quirky avante garde styling cue's that attracted me in the first place. The New Sonata while very nice looks too much like an Accord/Camry to me and the fact that you can't get a V-6 with a manual is a big turn off to me. The New Accent looks a lot like a corolla a car which in my opinion is butt ugly. From what I have seen of the new Elantra and hearing about the purported lack of a hatchback model I am at this point disappointed in the design direction. All of this with the substantial price increases across the model line will probably cause me to do what I did with Volkswagen and that is look elsewhere unless things take a drastic change. Lastly I tend to keep most of my cars 7-10 years or till they die which gives me 8 on the Elantra and 6 on the Santa Fe to see what Hyundai does between now and then.

I love my Elantra And my wife loves her's as well. They're great cars and have treated us well. Granted it's no race car ( though I like to pretend ) but you can't beat the value. If Hyundai keeps up what they have been putting out, I'd have absolutely no objection to buying another new Hyundai in the future. Whether it be another Elantra, Tibby, Sonata or even a Sante Fe. But my NEXT purchase is absolutely w/ out a doubt going to be an '86 RX-7. Can't wait. So excited! That will be my race car!

There's something in the way you talk that just brings a tear to my eye That sounds pretty sweet. I'm so hooked on the RX-7. Their just so bad ass. Take a 1200 pd. chassis and add a 350 HP motor that turns at 14,000 RPMs blasting out power to RWD axle. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! -------------------- |
