Hey everyone its been about 7 months or so since i've been on the site or talked to anyone, but im sure some will probably remember me, unfortunately though while living in New Hampshire i slid in the snow and crashed my elantra into a tree doing about 20-25 mph. it was even more unfortunate that the car was totaled!!! i will probably be uploading some pictures soon of the car after the wreck! and i want everyone to know that i will be a regular visiter again even though i dont have my elantra anymore!

Hey somehow I got signed up for the old message boards and recieved an e-mail that new forums were coming online so I figured I should sign up again after I spent 3-4 hours combing through the old posts
Just had a few questions,
1. I own a 2000 Elantra GLS, but it looks like everything is more geared towards 2001+. Is there a large difference in the 2000, 2001+ Models?
2. Also, before I purchased the car the previous owner had a dog which attacked the inside of the door panels...both the "vinal" if you will call it that and the upholstry on the panels. Anyone care to share best ideas of how to go about fixing, changing this? Ill try and get some pictures up ASAP so you can all see the horrible damage
Oh yeah, great board. Much faster then the other one...and thanks to everyone for ideas/input.

Hi all, I guess I should introduce myself. I was a member of the old board, but had problems accessing it from work, and I never rememberd to check it at home, so I never posted there. Since the forum has moved, I am able to access it here at work so, I am here. I own a black 2003 Elantra GT 5-door that is my wifes daily driver. We haven't done anything to it, but my wife keeps bugging me to start moding it since she has never had a car with any mods. My daily driver is a Blood Red 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT Coupe. I have been a member at ElantraXD board since I got my Elantra GT, my name there is punkrocker3_00.
Glad to meet you all and hope to learn more about our cars.

'm 25 years old and live in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in San Diego and moved up here in August of 2000. Portland's a great city, I welcome everyone to come by and hang out. I am studying Mechanical Engineering at the local community college. I plan to transfer to Oregon State in a year or so. I work full-time in a retail golf store, and golf is my passion in life. I've played for about twelve years now. I carry a 3.7 handicap right now and I play at least once a week. All work and no golf makes Roy a dull boy. I'm even more fanatical about my golf equipment than I am with my car.
My first car was a 1985-1/2 Ford Escort which I bought from my mom. I beat the crap out of that car, I drove it into the ground. It had a Cadillac logo over the Ford emblem, a Saab "Turbo" badge on the back, a hula girl, fuzzy dice, and a suicide knob on the wheel. Great little car. My next car was a 1995 Saturn 4-door (SL2). I bought it used in 1999 and it was a great car for me. Practical, efficient, and low-maintenance. Too bad I crashed it this summer, but it led to my GT!
So, when I was looking for a new car, I was looking at used Elantras. I didn't want to spend much but I wanted a nice car with some good features, and Hyundai seemed the way to go. I stumbled upon a used '01 Rally Red GT and fell in love with the body styling. The hatchback is a smooth, aerodynamic shape that is very practical. The clean, European styling cues give it a touch of class and separate it from the cookie-cutter import econoboxes. And once I started looking at the standard features with the GT, I was sold. Power everything, AC, cruise control, and the mp3 player in the 04 sealed the deal for me.
Once I took my car home, I wanted to learn everything I could about it. I figured there would be a forum somewhere with Elantra enthusiasts, but once I found GT Club, I was home. I found a club with polite, knowledgeable, outspoken members who really know their stuff. Where else can you find such a wealth of knowledge in electronics (southpawboston), mechanics (JPJR2), and detailing (f1guy68) in one place? I also like to see what people here have done with their cars - lots of unique mods and they are all tastefully done. The levity of the posts here is refreshing - no one is afraid to say something and the egos here don't bruise too easily. There's lots of great humor here and everyone really knows how to keep it fun. Basically, I see a bunch of great guys and gals who seem like the kind of people I'd love to hang out with and have a frosty beer or two.
I'd like to thank Mitch (GT Man) for running this great place!
-Roy
