Listing what i have currently:
Dual XDM7610 head unit 10" Pioneer Sub (480 peak @4ohms ~120 RMS) w/ a .75cu.ft. enclosure (needs 1.0cu.ft) Profile HA740 Baja 4xch amp (Peak Output Power (4 Ohms) 120W x 4 ; RMS Output Power (4 Ohms) 60W x 4) I've had the HU for over 4yrs now and its starting to act a lil weird from time to time. Connectors not always sending the right signal from face plate. So here's my ideas: First replace the HU with a double din that has bluetooth and USB Choice: Dual Axxera X2DMA500 My current Dual has worked great until now and 4+yrs of service is fairly good in my book. This one has bluetooth, 2xusb, sd slot, and has blue backlighting. Everything i'm needing for a good price. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_070X2DM500/Ax...00.html?tp=5684 Next is a new enclosure for the sub and amp/s Make a box for the sub with the front panel extending towards the rear seats so as to attach 1 to 2 amps on it. Then, I want to take the Baja amp and use it for the car speakers which i would replace with these: Front: Kicker DS6.2 components (6.5 speakers w/3/4 tweeters) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_206DS62/Kicke...6-2.html?tp=106 Rear: Kicker KS65 (6.75 w/attached 3/4 tweeters) http://www.crutchfield.com/s_206KS65/Kicke...=N&skipvs=T Front's top mount depth is less than 2in so should fit with no window hinderance, and both sets RMS range is right in line with the Baja amp's RMS range. Finally, a new amp for the pioneer sub: Dual XPE1700 Its a 1000wx1ch amp with RMS of 240x1 at 4ohms. So it won't be overloaded with the sub and actually have some room to grow. As you can see I have given this a fair amount of thought and research. Most has been selected based on price, but suggestions and advice welcome. -------------------- |

Sounds like it'll be a nice upgrade/overhaul!
No suggestions other than make sure you've got a good power line running to the amps. I've got a 4ga running from the battery to trunk that then splits to 8ga per amp. I am intrigued by the sub box idea though. -------------------- carPC Build Thread | My Elantra Site | My Fiero Site | My WebSite | Donate here to keep ElantraClub online and growing. |

Update:
The Dual headunit has finally died on me. IT will no longer turn the volume up, only down. And since it is 5+ yrs old, dual no longer makes faceplates for it, but they suspect it may be the ribbon between the faceplate and the unit that failed anyways. So I need a new unit. I think this i what i'm going to replace it with. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...=9SIA15Y0AJ8409 -------------------- |

I approve! Pioneer makes the best HUs IMO. They last, and most importantly (for me) the quality of audio is exceptional.

Hope you didnt buy those Kickers from Cruthfield they are expensive local guy hooked me up cheaper and amazon is selling them dirt cheap. Great speakers though put 4 Kicker KS65s in my Optima with a 10 inch rockford fosgate sub in the correct size box with a 1500 watt mono block amp and love it. The Kickers are just running off the 45x4 4ohm rms head unit. -------------------- |

I use crutchfield more for specs and links. Usually find better prices on amazon and sonic electronics. But HU is first and that Pioneer will be the choice, just got to wait till weeks end before ordering.

I approve! Pioneer makes the best HUs IMO. They last, and most importantly (for me) the quality of audio is exceptional. i second this. I've got them in everything except the truck right now and wish I had it in the truck. THe only GOOD thing about the Sony in the truck is the actual iPod cable that I can (and have) run to the back of a cubby. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Ordered the Pioneer plus a USB cable extender so i can hide it in the glovebox, and a larger 4 guage amp kit for the future expansion.
