Roy, I agree, the gauge colours match the rest of the interior!

You should have gotten an 03 GLS, they have a consistent vomit green theme! haha.gif

I've never been much of a wagon-esque style fan, but this and the SX4 really havemy attention lately.

While this may bear a resemblance to a Mazda3, I see more of a resemblance to the Protege5, a car that I really hemmed and hawed over when I got my Elantra. It will be interesting to see how this model stacks up against its competition.

I can understand Anton's comment about the instrument stack in the center. While it serves its purpose, I see it is a form over function design. That said, just about every car I sat in sacrificed function to look pretty, while the Elantra had more storage bins and the layout was a little more ergonomically friendly. It looks like the stereo unit will be pretty easily replacable with an aftermarket model, which is a category where the HD Elantra might make upgrading the stereo more difficult. However, in this casee, the extra space taken up by that stack is used well via an information display showing what looks like a clock, door sensors, and an outside thermometer (I like that function).

This car looks like exactly the kind of car I had on my wish list when I bought my Elantra. I think this kind of model will find itself in the crosshairs of many customers with similar needs to mine, and there are a lot of us out there.

It will be interesting to see how this model does on the market!

But there is no word on it comeing to the US market. Also a diesel engine may have better economy but that needs to be compared to the higher cost of diesel fuel.

A 30% increase in fuel economy is going make up for a 5-10% increase in fuel cost. Gas is $2.14 and diesel fuel is $2.26 at the local truck stop near us. That's taxes included price of fuel, not the tax exempt $2.11 truckers only price.

Personal opinion here, but I have a feeling that we're seeing the next Elantra Hatch. Looking at the body crease and overall shape/size, it would not be too difficult to graft an HD nose onto it.

Bob, I think you're wrong there, but not too far off. The side panels don't have the same curves and the rear is too different, but I would be surprised if the general body shape was all that different from this.

Not exactly the hatch, but a varient of it.

This is what the next gen Elantra should have been.

I think 30% is pushing it and ur price difference is low. Its always been 30 cents or more down here over regular. But whats the difference when it comes to emissions?

The price difference I drove past on my way home. And the mileage increse. . . .The standard Jetta 2.0 Got a whopping 32mpg with a 5-spd. the TDI got 45mpg. That's 29% and the TDI's after 50k miles typically INCREASED in mileage pushing them to almost 50mpg. Add in the added longevity of a diesel engine and to me it's a no brainer.

but there's also the supply problem. what happens when you're hitting empty and there's no diesel stations around you? pretty frustrating to keep passing by gas stations on every corner, just to realize that they don't have your fuel.

but i agree with you on TDI's and CRDi's in general. if the supply chain were better here, i'd hop on a diesel in a heartbeat.

Wasnt questioning the price difference. I was just surprised at it, then again i shouldnt since its florida. So point taken then on the economy. But still arn't diesels heavier on emissions? I coment on that since diesel smoke is so easily seen.
And what size are the engines being stated for the Ceed?
