ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ Member's Mod Lists _ Sarge's Mod List

Posted by: sargeants Feb 29 2008, 10:46 PM

Well with more and more mods on the way, think I could go through and create one of these threads to track things a little better.
The garage is doing good though.

Alot of the things I've been doing lately are half-done, mainly due to weather, time and sometimes money.
Driving the car LOTS doesn't give much time for relaxing and doing some mods, but moving into a new place with the g/f should stop the constant weekend travels 4-5hrs round-trip. Will also give me underground parking for easier mods.

So the list starts off like this....

06-23-07 - Car Purchased - 86000kms
06-24-07 - Lifetime EC Subscription
07-15-07 - eBay SRI installation
07-15-07 - KDM 3way Washer Nozzles installation
07-28-07 - Rear Strut Bar installation (Mussa?) - got it off ebay
07-25-07 - New clutch, covered by 30day problem-free
08-02-07 - Clutch Slave Valvectomy
08-02-07 - JVC KD-G430 deck installation
08-02-07 - Blue Clock attempt
08-25-07 - start to a custom fiberglass sub enclosure, to fit the free 12" Infinitys I scored
08-25-07 - Infinity 611a amp purchased
09-02-07 - hack-job to the existing sub box, to at least get some sound hooked up with the sub and amp
09-22-07 - Timing belt, water pump, accessory belt swap - 97000kms
10-15-07 - Rain Visors installed
12-13-07 - ElantraClub Decals hooked up - show that pride!
03-01-08 - Shifter Bushing installation - 115000kms
03-09-08 - PCV Line Filter - 116000kms
04-23-08 - CosmoRacing Short Shifter
05-01-08 - KJB Shifter Base Bushings
06-28-08 - Fiberglass sub box installed and working nice
07-03-08 - Tibby 19mm rear sway bar (66000KM pull)
09-08-08 - ARK shorty antenna
12-13-08 - KYB/Eibach spring/strut install
12-13-08 - R1Concept slotted rotors/pads installed on front
03-17-09 - Fumoto oil drain valve
04-24-09 - Front lip spoiler
?-?-? - CarPC.... constantly changing
The rest seems to be more maintenance/repair ...

The realistic list goes like so: *in no real order
- Window tint
- Front grille (Saturn's old one)
- Engine ground wires
- running out of ideas it seems
There it is...

Day 1 at my parents after taking both cars there to park the Fiero (phonecam)

Day 1 - after picking it up, driving 600kms, and getting a new battery

Rear strut bar

JVC deck

Fiberglass subbox start

Temporary subbox - I know it's not finished either...

Fiberglass subbox almost completed!!!

Timingbelt change, SRI modification - sorry dad

Clean - addition of rain visors - just before the storm

New PCV Line Filter (oil catch can)

CosmoRacing Short Shifter

Tibby rear swaybar with new endlinks

Steve, your car is already pretty nice, and all that will only make it nicer!

That catch can will make a difference you can see and feel after a few thousand km.

TWM Performance sell aluminium shifter-base bushings for the Elantra and I'd recommend them. I'd also suggest getting their short-shifter over the Cosmo. They have been a number of reviews and write-ups with the TWM usually coming out on top.

You've got the rear strut brace but I would have gone for the rear sway bar first. You don't lose trunk space and it makes a greater difference to the car's handling. Happy modding!

Thanks guys
the bug has bit, but its not yet swelling too much hehe

I've got the antenna on it's way, and will be stopping by Princess Auto next to see what I can find for a catch can - see whether I can make one for cheaper than buying one. Probably should've done this sooner as my driving will be cut back a bit after this month.

Making one takes a small water seperator for an air compressor, two 3/8" OD (IDK metric conversion) brass nipples, and a couple feet of 3/8" ID rubber fuel line. The first two can be found at Home Depot, and the third is from any good auto store. This takes about 30 minutes to mount and route.

sweet thanks (David?-sorry bad with remembering names)
but you just ruined my day of looking through everything at Princess Auto - could have made it a morning with my dad.... thanks... tongue.gif
- was wondering what the catch can was exactly, but that makes sense, might be heading to Home Depot sooner than I thought... smile.gif

LOL No problem! Glad I could help scratch the itch!

The brass nipples are critical. I used nylon, and it was too flimsy and leaked a bit. Also, you may want to take a second to rip off the stock PCV hose to take into the store to compare sizes before you go buy hose and the nipples. It's a pair of pliers and a dirty hand compared to getting the wrong stuff.

Well I'll do you one up!
got a complete 25' of hose, ready to be used for compressors, so I used both manufactured ends and didn't bother with the brass nipples.

Now I've got ~22' of hose that I've got no use for. Anyone in TO want it?!? real cheap, and I'll even give you one brass nipple ready to do this mod! biggrin.gif

This thread may hold the record for the most mentions of nipples. laugh.gif

Posted by: sciphi Mar 15 2008, 06:17 PM

Eh, nothing like the proper nipple for the job!

Posted by: sargeants Apr 17 2008, 06:47 PM

okay, so after moving and getting my insurance information updated - I'm saving nearly $100 a month.

SOO on order is a CosmoRacing Short Shifter
and these to go along with it....

Well I didn't make much sense here - so I'll fix that

I did remove the rear crooked H and put the Mussa one there. Little sun and floss and away we go; used some WD40 to clean up underneath once it was off.

I've also since removed the Hyundai and Elantra decals

Posted by: sargeants May 2 2008, 08:25 AM

Well got the KJB Shifter base bushings installed - definitely makes for a nice solid shift... more what I'm used to

List has changed a bit.
Pulled the trigger, and should be getting a 19mm rear Tibby stabilizer bar early next week - I'm hoping Monday so I can install it on Canada Day.
Hopefully it's not TOOO much of a pain, might want to check Cdn Tire to see if they've got some end links in case I need them - and a hacksaw.

Posted by: MEly Jun 26 2008, 01:27 PM

ohmy.gif You lucky guy - now I'm super jealous. Where'd you order it from?

Posted by: sargeants Jun 28 2008, 08:47 AM

Sorry you're jealous...
also sorry the junkyard wasn't as nice to you as they are to me.

somewhat finished the rear sub enclosure, only final touches left.

Posted by: sargeants Sep 8 2008, 12:27 PM

well just found out that my short antenna arrived from ARK - tonight I'll be putting it on and trying it out!

running out of things to get... also need to stop thinking of things, I got a wedding to pay for soon...

Posted by: sarge Nov 9 2010, 11:49 PM

I need to go through the list and get a 'rate my ride' thread going.

Though I did update my garage to show most of the things that I have going on now. smile.gif
